Unofficial alpha 63, weekly build

Post by Jeff » Tue Jan 26, 2010 7:13 am

The unofficial, alpha 63 leaked build is here!

A "leaked build" is when John and I grab the latest SVN build and package it up for you guys. It has a ton of known bugs, so don't worry if it doesn't work for you. It is not condoned by David and Aubrey but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly! Please report bugs in our Trac system!

*NOTE* Please remember that these are unofficial alphas and they do not represent a finished product. They are not even polished builds, just straight up raw development dumps not intended for public consumption.

New in this version: (see blog)

To download the alpha, use one of these links (please use the mirrors!)

Warning, the Windows build may need a little tweaking to run on your computer -- please see Merlins post here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5962&p=98637#p98597.

Win: original mirror 1 mirror 2
Mac: original mirror 1 mirror 2

Let me know how the mirrors are working for you -- they are graciously provided by Mow and should provide faster download speeds (especially in Europe). They will also save us a lot of money. :D

Note! No PPC, 10.4 Tiger, or Linux support at the moment -- we are waiting on Awesomium for these. AJS says that Linux support is on the horizon, but we cannot make any concrete estimates for it. In the meantime, we are Wine compatible.

Thanks! Been very excited to see the models ingame.
EDIT:
It seems like this upload it broken. I downloaded from Mirror 2, and received a "corrupted archive" error upon extraction. Same thing from the main wolfire link

Same here, mirror 1 doesn't work and the file from mirror 2 gives me that same error.

Mirror 2 should be fixed, I'm working on mirror 1 now. I guess Jeff was tired when he uploaded the files:)

Edit: both mirrors should work now.

I'm doing it as schoolwork and to learn texturing, and soon I'll have real classes too and I'll have much less time to spend on personal stuff. I can play with the animation stuff, but I doubt I'll be able to study it for a while. :(

Hmm. I get an application crash when launching.
Running 64-bit Vista.

"C:\Users\Freshbite\Downloads\Overgrowth\Overgrowth - A63\Lugaru2.exe
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
Please see the application event log for more detail."

There is an Application Event Log? O.o
Anyone else got this?
Am I suppose to post a Trac Ticket about this?

Here is a thread with the same issue.
Usually this message had something to do with Visual C++ Runtime environment not being installed(see here for details), but the above linked thread stated, he had it installed already. You should try to install the latest version, if you haven't done so already.
