New map (Stonebreaker Stronghold)

Post by dethfalcin » Thu Apr 22, 2010 11:28 pm

]Well not really a new map, but I'm working on a project that will eventually turn the desert map into a map with a few small outposts and trade routes. Here's my progress so far. Nothing great but its some thing
So far I have the Stonebreaker Outpost/Village/Stronghold main structure.

It's pretty big, it will be the biggest structure in the map

Lets see if you can find the 2 secrets of the Stonebreaker Stronghold :)

I would say this sure has potential in turning to something much greater. Keep it up!

... and that is one giant hammer.

A bit empty, as of yet. Also, I think that giant hammer is too weird and that the level would work better without it...

Is it supposed to be a stronghold, or something more of a working camp built into a good defensible position? The latter would allow for shacks and cruder buildings, but a proper fort should probably have good, well-built stone walls. I think a shabby camp would be more interesting, but you might well disagree.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of that giant hammer, but nice work nonetheless. :P

@ Endoperez
Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the hammer, and I really like the idea about having it a more shoddy outpost sort of thing Thanks :)

The ones in the skull look good. Might be silly once they're seen in the game, but that's easily fixed by scaling them smaller. Will be interesting to see what the second iteration of the place will look like.

Might be silly once they're seen in the game, from the character's point of view, but that's easily fixed by scaling them smaller.

I'm liking the concept, now all it needs is detailing. As others have said, I don't see the point in the giant hammer.

Another thing I don't get is where you'd find an animal big enough to own that skull, or how you'd kill it at your size. One thing that might help there is scaling down the skull and hammers, as they are, scaled together, to make it so that they hang from the frame of the entrance, rather than loom above it.

I know that feeling. :( I was doing a smithy map with custom models, but then school picked up and I haven't touched it after... it was February, I think. So yeah.
