Bug reporting station

Post by Jeff » Fri Jan 07, 2011 8:51 pm

Trac was not really working out, so we are trying a new bug system called FogBugz!

Simply email any bug you encounter to [email protected]

Make sure to have a descriptive subject please. Be sure to include as much details as you can (screenshots or even a video demoing the bug are extremely helpful). This will hopefully help us stay much more organized.

Make sure to include the following information:
  • Complete version (this is specified in the third row of menu bar -> Help -> About...)
  • Operating System (even if it's Windows 10 rather than Windows 7)
  • What you were doing when the bug occurred and what you think might have caused it (if you have any insight)
  • Crash dump, if the game suffered a complete crash (only available on linux or windows)
  • The logfile.txt file, location specified below
  • Your hwreport.txt, location specified below
=Edit by Johannes=
Please also attach your hardware report file. You can find that in the following locations:

Windows:

Code: Select all

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Wolfire\Overgrowth\Data\hwreport.txt
Mac OS X:

Code: Select all

FIX
Linux:

Code: Select all

~/.local/share/Overgrowth/Data/hwreport.txt
=Edit by Autious=
Please also attach the logfile.txt

Windows:

Code: Select all

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Wolfire\Overgrowth\logfile.txt
Mac OS X:

Code: Select all

FIX
Linux:

Code: Select all

~/.local/share/Overgrowth/logfile.txt

Reason: Changed how to see the game version, since that has changed now. Also removed stray space.

Should we be resending bugs that we have submitted on the trac system, or have you already transferred everything over?

Transferring current bugs would be helpful

ahh interesting.
is there also a way to see open bugs/tickets?

tell you what would be cool bug reporting from within the game, I know this was done in lego universe (ye ye call me mental if you will) and it worked out quite well

Not at the moment. This sounds pretty lame, and is why we started out with a public bug tracker. In practice, we've learned that virtually 0 people actually look at the open tickets in Trac.

awww shame.... well seems I was one of the only ones who followed the trac...
but I also like the practicality of skimming over what has already been reported instead of just blindly reporting something which could already be a known issue.

Make sure you copy the executables in addition to the Data dir.

I get an error when I start the a115. It says: "No graphics card detected that supports shaders; please wait for us to implement a shader fallback path" And then the start screen crashes. I have nVidia GeForce gtx 260.

What should I do?

Should we send an email for every bug, or make a list?

I downloaded the maps that i was under the impression that i could run around in, but whenever i try to place a character or press the rabbot button, the window closes itself.

Right click the .zip and "extract to (insert .zip name here)".
You should have a folder with its name then.(You need winRar or 7zip to do this though)

This isn't really a bug, but you may consider putting a limit on how fast they run once they've fallen.
