[Weapon] Wakizashi

Post by AAorris » Sat Mar 24, 2012 2:06 am

Hey everyone,
I was just testing the basics of modeling in blender and overgrowth weapons, and this was the result:
Image

After spending some time with it, it has become my indispensable fighting tool!

It's small and fast enough for knife-like slashes when you're running, stabs at close range, and huge cuts from farther away!

Because of the completely different functions it has, using it requires a strong control over your distance and movement! It throws just as bad as you imagine a katana would - it's a big risk!

If you're interested in using it yourself, you can download it >here<

Unzip the folders as they are laid out. You could simply drag your data folder in the same folder as your regular data folder if your unzipper merges files. :)

To load the weapon in game, navigate to Data/Custom/AAorris/Weapons/Masamune/item.xml.

I'd love to see a video of this in action.

Robbert was happy to oblige! Although you might not enjoy the horrible fraps'd audio.

The weapon itself might deserve some tweaks, but I don't want to put too much work into it until the phxbn animation import/export scripts are functioning in blender again! However, if there's something you guys would like, I'd enjoy doing it for you!

Currently the attacks for using the masamune are:
  • close - [spear]stab
    moving - [knife]cut
    far - [broadsword]chop

relly nice work, this is one of my favorite weapons so far, keep up the good work. cool to see that it has a different move set, its very fun to play with.

i made a video of a duel with this sword using SteelRavel7s Versus Ai mod, it was much more fun than just using the Broadsword. its good to have some more variety, thanks for the sick weapon and im looking forward to more if you happen to be working on any

It seems as though you should scale it down a little bit, it looks more like a ninjato with the length. But nonetheless, this has become my favorite weapon in this game. Me gusta.

epic sword, i like how you made it so your attacks are different depending on your distance from the enemy. 10/10

You should have seen it with the first model, it was as long as Turner!

Updated with a new directory, and with a hull so that you can save it into your levels and load them again without the game crashing. : )

sweet, hey maybe you can add a weapons slot in your mod mod of all or most of peoples weapons that they have made. Like if you select the weapons icon or whatever it brings down a list of all the weapons that you put on.

I totally just took the liberty of rendering a normal map and updating your weapon :P.

Uhm.. hi. Thanks for cool weapon.
I want to report a bug of 198.
Pick up two katanas. Use one more.
Character will use two katanas with the same hand position as one if you try to hide it with E.
Double-katana broadsword looks really bad =(
