New Map: Cult of the Dead Bird
You're a lone traveler in a desert wasteland...
It's my first map, so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or if there's anything I can do to improve it. It's somewhat story driven, but I kind of just thew that in at the end, so it's not a very good story. Also, this is in no way related to anything you might find by googling "dead bird cult".

Re: New Map: Cult of the Dead Bird
I want to try this map, but it keeps bombing whenever I try to load it.
Did you include custom objects or something?

It lags a lot for me, but that's not unusual with a lot of objects. Works fine in Linux version with just the xml file. Nice work with the altar area.

Same thing for me on Linux, I'm pretty sure this is just because the Linux build doesn't work as well yet though. It might be because the character LOD has been deactivated or something because if I remove around three enemies it starts running really well.Rhaedas wrote:It lags a lot for me, but that's not unusual with a lot of objects. I'm not sure what the problem is. I didn't use any custom objects.Djemps wrote:I want to try this map, but it keeps bombing whenever I try to load it.

Yep, runs silky smooth on Windows.
Runs for me on the vanilla 180 build.
I just need the sky.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually get some lag too. Mostly when I start fighting. I'm not sure if it's because I have too many objects or too many enemies so close together. I thought it was just that my PC was getting old.

Are you getting texture file errors like the image below? If so, I also get these in Windows on every custom map I try to load. The only workaround I've found is to make copies from the original map and rename them. I can upload them if you need them.Silverfish wrote:Yep, runs silky smooth on Windows.

Re: New Map: Cult of the Dead Bird
The best solution is to get the sky textures in .tga format and put them into your sky folder in the game directory, then the game will generate those files for you automatically. I think the main menu mod contains those skies, but I didn't have that installed. Anton was kind enough to upload the sky I needed for me though.HapHazzard wrote:Are you getting texture file errors like the image below? I've added this map to the menu mod.
