Receiver Linux support (wine) - no mouse

Post by Teh_Bucket » Mon Aug 06, 2012 10:22 pm

I can successfully run receiver fine in ubuntu 10.04 in wine, fullscreen or otherwise, but i have no mouse control in-game. (the in-game menu cursor works fine) Though it sure is a challenge to play without ever aiming from the one spot you start with, I'd like to figure out why this is happening, and if it's happening to anyone else.

It's happening to me too. My guess is that its just that Unity's mouse movement is incompatible with Wine and that if its reported enough that there will eventually be a patch for it, otherwise you might as well play it on a laptop or something with Mac OS or Windows on it.

Actually, Unity is gearing up for a release that will add Linux distribution. And that's if I'm not behind the times and they haven't already released said release.

Thanks krogan, I was wondering if I needed mouse drivers or something (logitech special gaming mouse). For me, it's not urgent, I'm dual-booting with windows xp.

and Korban, thanks for the info. I'll be happy when that comes out.

There is a thread somewhere on this forum about how to run receiver on linux using PlayOnLinux. Mouse works with that configuration.

I'm having the very same issue here. Its been happening to several of the programs I download. I'm on Snow Leopard, and I think the issue may be because programs are now being made for Lion?
On some Java run applications, such as the SUM Launcher, I can solve the problem by opening the Jar file. I found my old .zip file for receiver and the old version continues to work for me.
