Only downside to the crossbow is it's a pain in the ass to reload.

That would be rather hard when supporting you're entire bodyweight on the crossbow.

perhaps add in the type of crossbow used on the great wall of china those things could fire about as fast as the user could (maybe use them as turrets)

You mean the Chu Ko Nu (or Zhuge Nu, depending on who you ask)? They were not altogether that effective, certainly not without poisoning the tip of the bolt. Great for things like point defense, for example defending a doorway or such, but I certainly wouldn't want to take one into serious warfare. Of course, it's easy to suspend one's disbelief and make a much more powerful version. It's a game, after all.

Throwing a knife was possible in L1, and we have no reason yet to believe that things that worked in L1 won't be in L2, even if they do work differently. That said, it would be nice to see other kinds of throwing weapons in L2. Kunai look really cool; shurikens - while having very little basis in fact - also look sweet.

Axes. Everything from small, carefully weighted throwing axes to massive, heavy, double-headed war-axes. Haven't seen an axe in any of the weapons screenshots to date.

Twenty-foot-long anti-cavalry (:P) pikes. Even if there are no mounts, how cool would it feel to impale a rabbit or wolf running at you full-tilt and watch their momentum carry their shattered corpse up along the shaft?

there definitely needs to bea few modes of play besides kill everything. timed play? defending? stealth? get to destination? any of these would be awsome inlugaru 2.

sorry, i'm typing with one hand because the other is pressurizing my nose as it bleeds for i am sick. :(

Damn my corrupted mind...

There definitely has to be more in the way of objectives except for go here and/or kill everything. Firstly because an open-ended game such as what Lugaru 2 has been promised to be cannot possibly succeed like that. Even GTA had steal cars as another objective. Secondly, it's great if you occasionally need to do a mission that doesn't suit your normal playing style, for example a stealth mission for Mr. Beefer, or conversely a combat-oriented objective for a primarily stealth character. It would encourage difficult choices ("Should I get my next stealth level so I can go temporarily invisible or spend a point in Strength in case I need it later?") and encourage players to learn how to play many different ways, sometimes thinking through missions in different ways in order to succeed.
