My laptop (and many, many more) is equipped with a integrated graphics card, an Intel i945gm which i guess uses the gma950 whatsitjobby, and thanks to this limitation I see that I wont be able to play Overgrowth (in its current stages) on here, which is very upsetting considering ive found workarounds to run games such as crysis, far cry, battlefield 2, and just about all the other games I have tried, even some Shader Model 3.0 games with swiftshader (poor poor performance)...
so the point is, please oh please support this video card in the long run, I would just love to preorder Overgrowth but am afraid Ill have a hard time playing it without upgrading my PC :/
it uses pixel shader 2.0 (supposedly) and as far as I can tell should be able to play this game, but I saw this list in the Wiki that says that the card isnt working with the alpha.
anybody who has managed to actually get it working, let me know your workaround and ill pre-order a copy so i can get into the ninja bunny a-kickin'
Support for 945GM aka gma950
Re: Support for 945GM aka gma950
sadly, that is an amazingly weak video processor and would require a very fast CPU and ram to make up much difference. Not saying it couldn't be done, just that it is a very weak GPU that is not intended for games beyond checkers or chess :}

yes, it unfortunately is very poor for newer games, but i do have a CPU and memory capable of playing even some intense games, such as crysis, with emulation of some hardware limits. Im wondering...is hardware T&L required for overgrowth? whats the lowest shader model used? 2.0a?
Re: Support for 945GM aka gma950
At the moment, there are no shader fallback options at all. What that means is that, if the graphic card can't run the current shaders, there are no less resource-intensive shaders the computer could use instead. Character animation is done through a shader - I don't really understand much about writig shaders, but I think writing a new version of that shader would take some time.
It has been mentioned before that Overgrowth won't be heavily optimized until more of the game mechanics are in place. So while fallback shaders and other such things will probably come in time, you shouldn't expect improvements anytime soon.

alrighty, thanks for the answers, ill hold tight until more work is completed and maybe eventually support for my card will follow. as for the time being keep up the great work wolfire! looks like some great improvements over the old lugaru system have been made, and this should be a great game!
