Did wolfire get insperaction from Red wall?
just a question do you guys think Wolfire got their ideas for lugaru and overgrowth from the red wall book series, also good books btw..
Re: Did wolfire get insperaction from Red wall?
It might have been one, but I doubt it's been very big source of inspiration. Redwall has animals as small humans, but the idea is hardly unique. Mouse Guard seems like something more directly inspired by Redwall - the protagonists are mice, and animals are of hugely different sizes. In Overgrowth, rabbits can kick wolves in the head. In Mouse Guard, the mice would have to climb up a wolf's legs to reach its head.

they did not. Red wall was horrible
Re: Did wolfire get insperaction from Red wall?
That doesn't make sense. Redwall is popular, so many people could be inspired by it. The inspiring product doesn't have to be good to inspire others.Venatir wrote:they did not. Red wall was horrible
edit:
Also, even though you may not have liked it, I don't think it's a bad series. The series is formulaic, but enjoyable.

Aye, Redwall was a good series, but I believe they've said where they got the idea, and it wasn't Redwall, or any other book series for that matter.

actually I think they said they drew a tiny bit from it, though very little, there are so many books and stories along those sorts of lines I don't imagine it was hard to do.

Oh, ye of little fun.Venatir wrote:they did not. Red wall was horrible
Redwall had some ups and downs, but was overall a great series.
I'll be the first to admit that the stories got a little tired after a while (zealous descriptions of food, riddles, rhymes, mysterious dreams, always the same villains, etc.) but I don't think, overall, that it was a bad series.
It's a shame Brian Jacques died.

Your apparent attempts to fill the void left by my absence as neighbourhood troll are falling a little flat.Venatir wrote:they did not. Red wall was horrible
I never read much of the Redwall stories, but I'm fairly certain that David has said he drew some slight, inadvertent source of inspiration from them. I wouldn't be too sure where he would've said such a thing, but I seem to recall it...although it may just be because the stories have such a strong following amongst the forum regulars.

They got inspiration from killing small animals and watching how the blood came out
