Overgrowth Weekly 52 Ideas

Alright, here it is. Post 'em here folks.

My idea is to have everyone play Doom via ZDoom. ZDoom allows for like 52 players or something. The Doom engine itself doesn't cost moneys, but the textures and sprites are copyrighted. So what we do is distribute a free texture and map pack to all the OG Weekly attendees and then hit teh Doom. It'd be awesome. Have a giant 52 player co-op match agains a bunch of demons? Awesome, awesome? And then we can have community Doom maps as well. They would go under the Randomness thread, in a new sub-forum called "Community Doom". Do it?!

If my icon thing wins, Ill make a special anniversary one for them.


My Idea is that everyone buy's a cake, and makes cakes in minecraft, and makes a GIANT OG weekly statue(or something) in minecraft. Also, the dev's should do something to the game to show their appreciation and support, like making a special character or decal or object or something. They could add water and fill them with Silverfish (and Antons :lol:).

I'm working to get Konoko in OG right now. I was provided the model and texture by EdT and I'm rigging it up. That will be the surprise for OGW 52. But maybe the devs could establish the OG currency to be Antons. As in "Hey, you owe me 50 antons for that parakeet!"
And yes, phase three water with Silverfishes. They live around the impressive mountains, where it's cold.

I suppose... but then that leaves a viable method of beating Whaleman: Allying yourself with the Silverfishmen beasts by having Jack sacrifice a goat and then cyber-morphing into a Turninator by fusing the SIlverfishman beasts into your flesh. That makes it possible to beat OG, which is wrong.

To bring this back on topic, here is what i'd like to see in the OG Weekly anniversary:
Silverfish should show footage of him going out in the public, asking people what they think about overgrowth and ogweekly. Doing some promotion and us having something funny to watch :wink:

Since most of us do not understand Swedish, it would make sense if we also saw Anton doing the same thing in the US.

I like this. And they can carry a picture of Turner kicking a guard in the head so people know what the ninja rabbits look like when they say "WTH you talkin' 'bout, foo?!" I'd watch that.

That's a very cool idea. I don't think I would have the guts to do that though. xD
(BTW, almost everyone in Sweden knows English quite well)

Heh yeah I guess they do. :P

Maybe I could do some other kind of RL video to make the episode special? I don't have a good camera though so that's kind of a problem. I guess I could get one though, or use my cellphone camera if I don't care for super good audio and video quality.

Maybe we could re-restart the Community City project. Get together, have a virtual whiteboard on the stream and use the chat box to discuss plans for a city we all make together. That'd be kind of cool. We could also include any custom characters like Konoko or mine or Andrige's bear once it's done in the respective creators houses. Once network multiplayer is up we could all get together and have arena fights and stuff.

This also makes me think that OG should have a multiplayer build mode so that multiple people can put something together at the same time.

The problems with a community city are as follows:

1) Complexity: If we get the amount of submissions we are hoping for, along with npcs, very few computers(in the world) can handle it. This includes super computers.

2) Amount of submissions: No one submits. I'm sure this won't be a problem though, since it's for OG Weekly. However, if we only get a few, we could solve problem 1, and part of 3.

3) Who's gonna manage it? Probably Silverfish or Anton, but they might be too busy. I'd be happy to, but I'm too busy. This is an easy problem to fix though, except for the fact that they would need a supercomputer.

4) Quality: What do you do with a crappy submission? We could just accept it, but what do you do when someone submits a cube made of 7 smaller cubes?

5) Design: Whoever manages it needs to give it a cool layout, something I failed to do. Community blueprinting (virtual whiteboard would work) could fix this quite nicely.

6) Time: We have to start it soon if this is what we decide on.

7) Theme: It should (of course) be OG Weekly themed, but how do we do that? What do we do with unfitting submissions (say, a yellow striped cube made of 7 smaller cubes)

8) Funness: My (and the people who submitted) city wasn't very fun. This goes with design. Compact = good, which(due to the lack of submissions) my (and others) city failed at.

9) Walls: Any good medieval city needs walls, a gate, and maybe natural barriers. The problem is that these need to fit nicely around the city (like Nimai's(I think thats right) original community inspired city)

10) Terrain: Do we go my route(which was lame) and use a huge flat surface to build it on? Do we build a custom terrain with a flat surface that fits nicely around the city? The coolest would be structures designed around the terrain, but IDK how we would do that.

11) Time(pt. 2): Problem 5, 9, and potentially 10, need to be done at last minute, to incorporate what we have. How do we know when to start? What do we do with last minute submissions? We will need a strict deadline at least a week before OG Weekly #52 if we want to make it good.


In short, it's doable, but difficult. It would be awesome though, and it could(if it ends up good) immortalize # 52. I'd be happy to help, but we'll need a lead organizer.
