I hate pirates because they steal games from cool developers. While I've read articles on piracy and why it can have benefits, I've also talked to the devs personally before and appreciate their openness of development and hard work. I've talked to Ninjas about David's work habits, and I'm worried that he misses meals as often as I do
I've also been programming a game and it's hard work. Especially collisions *-* and can understand all the work that goes in to Overgrowth and the Pheonix Engine itself and get pissed that someone can't pay for it. Then they ask for help.

Betas are usually free these days anyway for a limited time, for testing purposes and to build awareness. so an idea would be to give extras to those that pay/preorder like multiplayer, mod distribution, extra characters, weapons, no ingame advertising and tech support but not punish the world if someone wants to download free they have to download the whole new build or get them to submit art assets, character models to help with the game constuction or the free version gets updated every three months.

The industry is changing the other way is to invest in an isp so u get paid off people downloading data indiscriminately if things are pirated or not,the movie industry hasn't learned had there rists slit by the blades of pirates and are bleeding out.

who would we be if we didn't try to make the world better, so remember the wise words of the user adwuga
"DON"T BE A BITCH" its his motto.
NEVER quote me or my motto to support such a stupid thing. I would explain why, but Endo did quite nicely.

To touch on the give extras to those who pay thing, it's like saying that we payed $30 bucks for extras, while everyone else gets $60 bucks worth of awesome game for free. We are currently getting at least $90 bucks of awesomeness for $30. Isn't that enough?

And you said it wrong. It's:

Don't be a bitch. Ever.

We do. There's a demo for Lugaru available that is actually a remarkable sign of what to expect. Because Overgrowth is the spiritual successor of Lugaru it is inheriting much of Lugaru's gameplay and style. I've also said before that you preorder OG, try it, and if you absolutely cannot make it work for your PC then shoot an email to [email protected] and they'll gladly refund you 100%.

What? Why would we blame ourselves for buying awesomeness at around $2000 cheaper than it should be? And what are we complaining about? That you are a horrible/stupid person? And what solutions should we offer? Do you want us to put up torrents for you to thief off the hard work of a few amazing human beings who many of us have chatted with, and some have even met? And what reason have you given us to care about your problem? Bitchin' don't get compassion.

If you have a credit card you can try the game and return it if you don't want it. It's real easy. If you don't have a credit card, you shouldn't expect to be able to get things from the internet.

Do you like how I answered backwards? Pretty cool, huh?

Why should we blame ourselves, when the problem here is that some people (smelly pirates) are unrepentant dicks with no empathy for indie game developers?

Also, why should we care about the aforementioned having problems? People around here are friendly and helpful, to most people. We are not friendly and helpful to pirates, because... we don't want pirates in the official forum.
