The reason I post this is... I was wondering if the Wolfire people can use the same idea from Black Shades but use it into a Call Of Duty Modern Warfare kind of an Idea.
Keep the zombies for Nazi Zombies type game.
Keep slow motion (for replays) for last kills.
Have a bigger time limit.
Make an online multiplayer so everyone can play each other or make a Lan game?
If you guys reject this, can you at least make a option in Black Shade where the bad guys are after you? (You are VIP)
Also, Remember viewers... You can Post your thoughts about this. If you guys dont know what I'm talking about, check out Black Shades here: http://www.wolfire.com/black-shades

A New Idea About Black Shades
Re: A New Idea About Black Shades
Hey, while these would be some neat features Wolfire is unfortunately pretty busy at the moment developing Overgrowth, so I wouldn't expect there to be enough time to work more on Black Shades.
Re: A New Idea About Black Shades
More Ideas:
-Search and Destroy
-Team Deathmatch
-Capture the flag
-One in the Chamber
maybe have a map editor...
After Wolfire done with Overgrowth, will they be able to maybe look forward into Black Shades or this Idea?
Btw, I love Black Shades... I swear, I play it too much.

Love the feel of Black Shades' engine and gameplay, it's a shame that it's stayed as more of a tech demo than a full title. As far as I know, it's pretty much "done" for now. Who knows what Wolfire will go on to do after Overgrowth, though?
Re: A New Idea About Black Shades
I know! I agree with you. I wish I was a game designer... just so I can make games too. if Wolfire end a game and start a new project... I could like add something to it but no... Im not a game designer though. I wish I could be one.Ragdollmaster wrote:Love the feel of Black Shades' engine and gameplay, it's a shame that it's stayed as more of a tech demo than a full title. Let just hope they come back to Black Shades again or make a game with similar stuff but into a shooting player type game.
Re: A New Idea About Black Shades
Well, it's not really all that hard to start. You can simply get Visual Studio C++ 2010 Express from Microsoft (free) and use it to write C++ applications. You can use SFML or SDL for input and such. SFML has functionality for 2D images and windows that are usable with OpenGL for 3D games as well. I haven't used SDL, but it works because that's what David uses for Overgrowth I believe.
If you'd rather look into Java, then you could try BlueJay. I haven't used BlueJay much, but it seems good. CodeBlocks is another compiler I've never tried.
If you want an easier introduction to game programming and design, look up Game Maker at yoyogames.com or maybe do some scripting in Roblox (roblox.com). They're both free to use (To a degree. You can upgrade, entierely optionally, for better features). Once you've learned how programming works, it doesn't take too long to begin writing games and applications. Keep in mind that anything you endeavor to become awesome at will take time, so don't expect to make Quake 3 within a month of starting to learn. But if it's something you really feel you could do and be happy with, then I would urge you to do it. Even if it never becomes a career for you, it gives you a reason to work your brain since there is quite a lot of math and problem solving to be had when you program. It's also a ton of fun to see your creations and to see all your hard work produce something cool.

Re: A New Idea About Black Shades
Thanks Korban3, I'll check out Gamemaker from yoyogames. I really am wanting to learn how to make games and honestly, I want it to be my career. The reason why I have troubles because I dont know that much of making games (like nothing). I have a brother that is really skilled at drawing but right now he depressed because he doesn't have a real job yet and If knew how to make a game, I could have my brother draw and do the characters and looks while I could do the coding and stuff. But that wont happen any time soon
Well any way... about Black Shades, I really like the feel of the game but I think the awesome shooting game does not match with a white dude that walking around unaware what going on. I think the game could be changed into a FPS multiplayer killing game if you guys agree.
