Failure to Load Level on Mac?

Post by Cerbercer » Sat Jan 14, 2012 11:57 am

I just got the alpha and whenever i attempt to load any of the pre-made levels, it loads fine but around sounds and music it simply quits out, no error message or anything. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.6 if that helps at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

To bad, but you are not a preorderer. Onley thing i can give you is a wiki page with supported video cards http://wiki.wolfire.com/index.php/Supported_Video_Cards

It says my graphics card is supported, but would this really be a graphics problem if it halts at sound? Also, how do i link up my preorder to a forum account, I'm not really clear on that.

When you received your email, there should be a link to your personal SPF page, where you can enter your forum username. That will give you correct access to the SPF. Once you do that, posts like these would be better in that forum.

When you get to the SPF i think you should first try to download latest version of Overgrowth. There have been some bug fixes that repaired some starting up problems.
Also there are some fan made auto updaters now that can update your OG with 1 update into the latest version. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14201#p148878. So you don't have to re-download all that 2GB again

Alright thanks and one more thing, In the terminal i isolated the error that causes the game to crash.

Calculating detail textures
(0) : fatal error C9999: unable to generate code, no legal types for program.
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal errorlogout

Also the two following errors seemed important but I'm not sure if they caused anything

The function `CGAccessSessionSkipBytes' is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance. Please use `CGAccessSessionSkipForward' instead.

Any help would be appreciated, I'll go link up my account when i get access to my other computer, thanks so much!

Huh, CG? Weird. I just read some of the first posts from the blog and David mentions in one of them about swapping from CG to GLSL to cut some overhead. Might not be ralted, but it popped into my head
