Rabbit run cycle

You should change at least the rabbit's stride to be longer. Real rabbits alternate hopping on both back leg and then their front legs. Obviously since your rabbits are bipeds, having them jump around just on both feet would look weird, unless you did it like bitey in brackenwood (bit.ly/yEg4dR). Instead maybe have a one foot hop stride when running very fast. The best way I can describe it is how people run on powerisers (bit.ly/HWyKr), except with longer faster strides. That isn't to say that they should not run, only that at high speeds, they should begin to hop instead of talking 20 step per second.

maybe the player would begin taking long hoping strides when moving fast (like the powerisers) and even faster jumping hops when holding the jump button (like bitey).

it would also be cool is some of the races could stand up, but would prefer to run and/or fight on all fours.

I would like to see a return of the four legged run from Lugaru. I have noticed something a little weird about the run. I see what you mean about the stride on the animal side of things. Though on the human side of things, I think what I notice is the position of the spine. The rabbits run with their backs fairly straight up. More like a position for a jog than a full speed run. It might look better if they leaned forward into their stride at full speed.

Well, there leg speed isn't terrible for a sprint. But that's why I sometimes mod in a walk button, and lower the default run speed to a more realistic run. Just the way I prefer it is all.

Being able to do the beast run from lugaru would be awesome although not practical if you're holding a large weapon. Longer strides are definitely needed in my opinion. Having the beast run option in addition could be interesting if say you were a dog and being chased by a rabbit. This might force you to drop your weapon for greater speed and a chance to regroup.

Yeah, in Lugaru you would have to sheath your weapon to animal run.

Right now I think they should concentrate on making the running look less 'Robotic.' Aubrey should make about 4 or 5 slightly different running animations, and then make the game cycle through them slowly as they run. Making them get tired after running a long distance would fix this as well.

I noticed David actually 'Fixed' this in one of the earliest alpha videos (I think the second one), so before the Rabbits had even straighter backs. I agree, they should lean a bit more though.
