It is an acronym for "What The F***", which does make sense, though.

"For the win" is the most widely accepted version of the acronym.
I remember when one of my friends in IRC thought it was "f*** the what".
Eventually when someone else said it, he asked why we cursed so much.

Nobody knew what he was talking about to say the least.
He was soon after corrected.

I only know it 'cause so many of my friends play WoW.

Also possible. That's slightly embarassing. :(

I still think I've seen it used as "fuck the what" though, and if not, I'm using it as that.

And, uhh, how DOESN'T "what the fuck" make sense? It is used to convey general surprise or annoyance at something, such as "WTF THAT GUY JUST CAPITALISED AN IMPROPER NOUN MID-SENTENCE. CORRECT GRAMMAR FTW."

Geeks and/or nerds use it all the time. Like that MC Chris song, FTW.

I understand the phrase wtf, i'm just saying that if you hadn't heard it before those words in that order don't really make sense. my point was that neither wtf or ftw would make sense unless you already knew them, so pointing out that "for the win" doesn't make sense doesn't make it wrong. but, eh, whatever i'm getting off topic. let's just drop it, shall we?

You shouldn't be calling other people nerds when you are one yourself.

Lol, you could apply the same principle to anything, so saying that is pretty much useless.

The English language also wouldn't make sense unless I already knew it, so what's your point?

This is hilarious. It's like a page and a half from "[/meftw!]". I was only acknowlodging the silliness of saying "double tru". xD

I know. People are silly!

As for the treble release date, will there be different registration codes for each OS?

Just because something can be applied to anything doesn't mean it's useless.

It actually has a good chance of making us understand things better.
