Fighting System in Overgrowth

After playing my fair share of Assassins Creed i think it's pretty natural for me to start seeing how would the features displayed in it go in other games, in this case, Overgrowth
As most of you should know by playing the game you can counter-attack people and kill them with one blow, normally impaling them with your weapon
At a first glance i thought this could ruin Overgrowth if ever a similar system was implanted because then it would be pretty easy to kill the enemies ,but now I am divided
What's your oppinion on this guys?

Counter moves will likely be in. They won't instantly kill, but they will give you a big advantage.
At the moment, you can counter some (most? all? I'm not sure) attacks, and the counter is always a judo throw. The system will likely be expanded later.
A judo throw might not sound like much, but it's bashing you opponent's head and neck to the ground. That can be a kill.

Yeah I actually have seen a lot of those in David's alpha video's
I'd like to know how these are programmed though, being that the enemy is in ragdoll state and not previously animated
Also it just occured to me right now.
Imagine if the same blood system in Overgrowth was used to simulate rain...
It would be awesome to see the water pouring down the the objects in the maps ,but i can imagine that would not be very performance friendly xD

The tech is actually quite simple - the enemy is animated, not a ragdoll!
It's mentioned here:

I don't know any more about the details though.
