Wait, how about if a person is under X posts and they try to post a link, then their topic gets auto-redirected to a hidden "Trash" forum?

Maybe, or their topic just can't be created… It seems like the same thing IMO.

Yeah, but out of the five people online right now, 3 of them are mods. :)

I bet this forum is going to have enough moderators watching 24/7, there won't be any need for thread restrictions.

Add in a passcode they have to enter, they have to reply to an email, or even have moderator approval to register...eg: they register and their account has to be approved by a mod or admin.

I have yet to see a spam thread thanks to the new moderators (versus upwards of four per day last week that I had to delete myself), so I think that the problem has been solved. This will all be a moot point when phpbb 3.0 is released, hopefully. I'm not really eager to hack up the forums to fight spam unless I really need to do.

Indeed, the mods have been doing a good job; I've only been able to delete one since the mod privs were given out :P

Aw. I might actually look at these forums more often if I was a mod. Hurry it up with the blog posts, I'm starting to think L2 was scrapped or something! xD

I think you can prevent the spam by spamming the spammers and stopping the spam once and for spam.
