Isn't Medusa simply the name of a specific Gorgan from a specific tale?

"The" Medusa rather than "A" Gorgan. If you see what I'm getting at.

It was one of the Gorgon sisters, that's right. That's at least the most popular version.

Yes, at least in the version I know, there are three gorgon sisters and Medusa is the most important one (in Perseus' adventures). So yes, they are the same creatures.

Yes, that's why I changed it. I thought gorgons were completely different to medusa.

There were actually only meant to be three gorgon sisters (sorry Swordarm) including Medusa, the others were Stheno and Euryale, Medusa was the only sister that was not immortal and was killed by Perseus, her head was then placed on the Aegis of Athena and from her blood Pegasus is supposed to have sprung.
