Will there be L.A.N multiplayer?

Post by Zalak123 » Sat Apr 27, 2013 5:24 pm

I know no one here really knows the answer, but do you think there will be L.A.N multiplayer? And if there is, what would you be most exited to do in L.A.N?

Ha! Nice one.

On a more serious note:
You'd have to specify what game you mean.

They understood, they're just like that.

There is already hotseat multiplayer, but you need an X-Box controller or something similar.

LAN and online multiplayer are something the devs want to add, but it's less important than single-player, and might be difficult to implement. They sometimes do small games in just a few days (game jams), and the last two had online multiplayer (Desperate Gods, Low-Light Combat), so it looks like they're researching how difficult it would be to add. If it's added, LAN play is much easier to get working than proper online multiplayer, since in a LAN there should be very little lag, and lag could be a nasty problem.

Thanks for the respone. Very informative.

I already knew about the split screen multiplayer, but you didn't know I knew, so thanks.

Anywho, if there was L.A.N, I suppose I would be most exited to have some epic parkour races.

Racing would be the easiest online multiplayer thing to implement, too, since lag wouldn't matter as much for it.

Of course I understood what he meant. But a bit of education pion how to behave on the internet can't hurt.
When you make a thread you want something. You want certain people to read it and respond to it. The title therefore needs to give people the gist of what you want. If you don't manage to do that there will be understandings or people who could help you won't even enter the thread.
Titles like help?, cool idea or I have a problem come to mike.

Your point has been made, pipe down you two. The poor guy could've just as well have forgotten that detail out of excitement.

The title described the gist of this thread and everyone understood it. Still, I agree with Glabbit, even if, paradoxically, I don't follow it.

I hope so. If there is, You could use Hamachi, To play with your friends over the internet, Rather than needing them to come to your house and play.

Damnit andrew, why would you do this. And also, why come to conclusions like Hamachi already?

Cool off, man! There's two options - a new thread, or bumping an old one. You complain if a new user makes a new thread ("why didn't you search before you posted"), so at least let them bump old threads!

Isn't the whole point of Hamachi that if LAN multiplayer exists, online multiplayer will work too? Not much of a conclusion to make there. Lag would be an issue, obviously, but still.
