You will need to use Stuffit Expander.

I'm surprised your computer isn't set to use Stuffit by default with .sit files. What version of OS X is that?

Apple stopped bundling Stuffit Expander with Mac OS 10.4, much to everyone's inconvenience.

...Weirdness. This comp's 10.4 and has it, and I don't think it was just upgraded from 10.3.

I much prefer Apple's new unarchiver, but unfortunately everyone still uses sit files…

The Unarchiver is what I use, and it handles .sits fine (but not .sitx).
I highly recommend it and also Xee by the same company
as a replacement for Preview.

Ok.. Tell me if I'm getting this straight, you ran all the way from wherever you live to Oland, then you found a desert, stabbed a guy in the back and buried the body?

The hardest part was finding a guy who'd just stand there and get stabbed in the back.
