This is so incredibly fun.
Hey, 'salright if I bring a copy on a portable disk and let others play but not have copies? I call it "advanced marketing"- hook them in and give them enough to feed their addiction to make it worse... THEN give them NOTHING, and deprive them until they get obsessive and have an irrational NEED TO BUY THE GAME.

Hmm, sounds a bit like me.

Sounds like a plan

Actually I changed my mind about the beta distribution thing; until I add the scoring system and level selection and actual framework of the game, I don't really mind if any of you give it to friends.

I think at this stage the beta is still more of a demo than a full game, and should be treated as such. 8) Yay for free publicity!

However, only official beta testers who give useful feedback (i.e. most of the Lugaru dev section) get free copies of the final version, and only official beta testers have access to the dev section.

Also, anyone who gets three friends to buy it gets a free copy. :)

Well, shit. You should give me about 2-3 copies, then. I played just ONCE on a crappy laptop through my portable drive using a PAD, and I attracted gamers like a SWARM.

Imagine what an after-school demo could get from a crowd!

Life is so interesting. In my country (well, I didn't tell you that) you can buy, say, HL 2 in a regular shop (no underground) for $4. And 100% legal stuff - brand-new games in jewel-boxes - cost $5-10. [to be honest, these are the prices of PC-games. Even a pirated mac title will cost you $10, and legal stuff is almost impossible to get]

The worst thing is that if beta-testers like me (not extremely useful in development, eh?) do not get a copy of a final build, I'll have to buy one.
