Debug mode idea.

Post by invertin » Sat Oct 13, 2007 12:21 pm

I'm not saying we should JUST have an ingame one, but..

I imagine a rabbit stood alone in a battle field, dust falls from his hands and the sand beneath him forms into 2 small gloves of rock on his hands, he lowers his hands, lifts them up again, and the sand forms a huge cube, the rabbit slowly lowers his hands and the cube slowly goes down, the rock gloves crumble away and the rock stops on the spot in mid-air. The rabbit's hands glow, spark, then flame alight, the rabbit starts creating camp-fires all around, the fire on the hands burns out, and branches grow from the rabbits wrists and wrap around it's hands, it raises it's hand and a small plant sprouts from the ground, the rabbit lowers his hand over the plant, it starts to grow, the rabbit steps back, it turns into a tree. The rabbits hands glow a bright green, and a hole appears in the air, a rabbit steps out, then the hole closes up again. The rabbit's hands glow red, another hole opens and a wolf steps out. The 2 fight, during the fight, the first rabbit's hands loose their fur, and the skin turns silver, the rabbit reaches out to the second rabbit and a sword flies from his wrist into the second rabbit's hands.

Gameplay wise:

Player spawns a cube, places cube in air, spawns some fires, spawns a "seed", then makes it grow into a tree. Player spawns rabbit, spawns wolf, watches them fight, spawns sword for rabbit.

To put it in simpler terms, Debug mode makes you a wizard.

IMO, this'd be very cool as an optional feature, as it'd make debug mode awesome, but a little slower due to the delay the effects would cause.

Personally, I wish there were more real time first/third person wizard games, there just isn't enough… Geeze, why hasn't someone made a nice game where you can lob fireballs at the enemy?

Well, there was one I found that looked pretty awesome, but it's windows only…

*cough,cough* Elder Scrolls 4 *cough*

Anyways nice idea invertin! though it'd be kinda tough controlling all that...

That sounds really cool. Instead of stuff just arbitrarily spawning, it puts it in a more realistic context. Sounds like a lot of work, though.

Good point. That wasn't the word I'm looking for. Maybe more...in context? It's pretty cool no matter what you call it.

Is that an RPG?

If so, fail.

Is that for mac?

If not, epic fail.

Is that an FPS/Adventure/Action combo?

If not, QUAIL PHAIL

For all the holes people pick in it, it is still a pretty amazing game. I was breath-taken by it. It really was something special, and it was quite fun and time-consuming (which is good if you're looking for something that's time-consuming).

And the fireballs you lobbed at enemies were quite satisfying.

So all games fail then? XD
Except for, uh, WoW?
(Kidding! :P)

I also found Oblivion (ES4) to be quite delicious. I think I spent well over 100 hours on it. (Not in one sitting. :P)
Something about it grabbed me. I haven't played it since then though, what with all the other fantastic games available. (Orange Box!!)

Wow, off topic much?

Uh, anyway, I like your visualization, Invertin. Sounds cool.

No, just Ragdollmaster's suggestion would fail if it wasn't for mac, as everybody knows I don't have a PC.

Therefore, suggesting that someone play something if they don't have the prerequisite OS for it is a bit stupid, isn't it?

lol who wants you to play anything?

You just said people should make more wizard games where you lob fireballs at people, and he's just telling you there already is one (PC, 360, PS3). Maybe you should have been more specific :)

As if people could care less if you could play the game or not.

You know, it's asking a bit much for people to remember the OS's of everyone on the forum.
