System requirements for Overgrowth?

Post by cachiporrin » Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:55 pm

Hi everyone, I am really excited because I can wait to play Overgrowth, it's the only thing in my mind, I was thinking so much about it that I asked myself "wait!! what will happen if my computer can't deal with Overgrowth, maybe it will be sooooo cool that I'll have to get a new computer!!! oh noes!!!" So......can anyone tell me about the minimum and the recommended system requirements? thank you a lot.

They haven't been determined/released as of yet, but David has made it clear that you will be able to adjust settings so that you can play the game on a less impressive computer.

I have a power pc mac that runs at 350 MHz and 192 MB SDRAM. I REALLY want to know if it'll run, or if I have to mooch off my dad

No... Leopard won't even run on that.

Will it run on dual core athlon like a 5400 or 6400 with a 1650 radeon? Or will that be the bare minimum? Also will it run in direct x 9 or use 10.1, just want to know since I would hate to upgrade to vista.

It's a cross-platform game, which means either the developers are totally insane, or they aren't using DirectX at all in Windows. So no need for Vista.

Hey guys, if you want to know so badly, preorder it. It's not fully optimized for low-end computers yet, but that should give you some idea of whether or not you can run it.

As a general guideline, I'd say (and this may be totally inaccurate) that you'd need at least a 1.8Ghz processor (perhaps something close, ie, 1.5, would work too), 512mb-1gig of RAM, and a decent video card (NVidia or ATI; some newer integrated graphics cards would work too)

To check your exact specs on Windows, go to Run and enter "dxdiag", without the quotation marks. The most common issues I usually see with people trying to run games are their video cards or their drivers; always make sure to have the newest drivers installed on your computer, your video card should at least support Vertex and Pixel shaders and have DirectX 9. Don't freak out if you don't meet my "minimum requirements"- they might be completely overestimated. Be a little patient. If you don't plan on pre-ordering, then you don't need to know about the requirements until the release anyways, right?

Yep, totally in accurate, I'd say at least 3.0 GHz, and 2 gig of ram.

Really doubt it. Crysis, a game that was somewhat infamous for its supposedly high system requirements, only has a minimal requirement of a 2.2Ghz processor and 1 gig of RAM, with a video card that supports Vertex + Pixel shaders 2.0 or above and has at least 256mb of video RAM. Know what you're talking about. Overgrowth looks nowhere nearly as good as Crysis, nor is its physics engine going to be as complex as Crysis'. I'm probably overestimating the requirements for running Overgrowth, not underestimating them.

Newb addendum question: can/will it be able to take advantage of multiprocessors and 64-bit?

I'm amazed at the lack of support from big studios, especially for my beloved strategy games like Civ V that lags badly maxing out one of my four cores and hitting the 32-bit memory ceiling of around 2 GB of RAM, leaving my remaining 3 cores and 2 GB of RAM idle with the game miserably slow and laggy. :/

How might it run on this laptop :?:

AMD Turion x2 dual core mobile rm-75 2.20Ghz
4GB Ram
Vista 32bit
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 series 512MB

Is there anywhere I can read other peoples specs and their FPS?
