Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
...someone's been reading the Wolfire Blog.
Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
A lot of us have.
Well, I can't speak for everybody. But I know Invertin and I have. And probably Ozy and you, too...

Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
I read it every day, in fact I do it every time I get on the internet. Its better than going outside in the awful London weather.
Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
Course I read it.
It has words in it.
It has words in it.

So does the Koran...invertin wrote:Course I read it.

And probably every single magazine out there.
Including...
...
I'm not gonna say it, it's too terrible.
Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
I just wanted to say something so I said about words.
Word word words.
Word word words.

Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
I vote none at all.
I think a bold, strong name is going to attract a lot more attention and draw people in, rather than a name with a subtitle that feels like it's just tacked on.

Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
Thanks for the feedback guys. For now I think we won't try to force a tagline in anywhere but some people suggested on the blog that we might try to put a character or two on the Overgrowth logo somewhere. This would convey more meaning about the game but still not risk coming across as too cheesy. Attached is a very rough concept I cooked up.

Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
My point was that he basically mimed out exactly what was said in the Wolfire blog. lol I just found it kind of funny.
Also, that logo looks pretty beastly concept-wise. Do you plan on leaving the characters as silhouette shapes or would they be coloured in and detailed?

Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
The different species on the Overgrowth Logo looks very cool. Whether you do something in that nature (visually) or you add something like a tag-line, I think it will help the game seem more interesting to new people. Especially while you don't have any screenshots of characters/fighting.
Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
I think the idea of silhouettes on the logo is quite good, but one or two should be enough, right? Don't make it too crowded =]John wrote:

There needs to be a silhouette of whale man for the sheer epic ness of it.

Yeah, maybe have the whale man perking his head up from behind the letters all "HAI GUISE WHATS GOIN ON HERE???"
Re: Vote: Wolfire Tagline
Discussed this a bit with John in a chat earlier. Although it looks cool, I feel that having one of each race is missleading.John wrote:Logo with characters ontop
John said that so far, like they did in Lugaru, they are planning to have the story told from predominately a first person perspective, namely that of Turner. (First person here not meaning the actual 3D view, but rather that you experience only what turner experiences. You are not privy to outside knowledge)
Because of that, I think a Logo showing one of each race is missleading: it would be more fitting for an MMO, or at the very least an RPG where choosing a different character is possible, or rather all the different races are equally important. as it stands now that is not the case with OG. Though it might not look quite as cool, I think it would be less misleading if the Logo was more something like this:
(thrown together in like 2 minutes so don't judge on artistic qualities please.)
After all, the point of a tagline or rather Logo change was to help clarify what the game was about. I think this does that quite well: rabbit, weapon, one. you play as a fighting rabbit. simple as that.
