just thaught I'd mention it and then ask the devs: were you inspired by the redwall books by Brian Jacques? Just asking
If you don't know what redwall is then wiki it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwall
You may have also seen the cartoon based upon it, that's what i remember it from, it was awesome, my favourite cartoon as a kid it has certain similarities to overgrowth and Lugaru such as talking animals that wear clothes and fight among stuff. The books are definately readworthy and if the devs haven't read them yet i can highly recommend it

I think they mentioned it before, but also said they were influenced by a variety of sources.

Now all I have to do is find that darn link . . . .

Yeah I thought of redwall when I first played lugaru. They both have the same kind of brutality, the cartoon was still pretty mature lol.

I remember reading those when I was a kid. Very formulaic but still good fun.

Also... there's an animated version?

What's with this "when I was a kid" Stuff? I still read the new ones that he seemingly endlessly cranks out.

I only stopped reading because the author recycles so many elements in each book. I might enjoy them if I tried them again.

Has anyone heard about or read Mouse Guard? I think it's been made after Lugaru, but it's also a story about small animals in a violent, hostile world. I know very little about it, but it doesn't change the size differences, and that alones makes it awesome.

Wow!

I just found about a series of book that seems like it was inspired by Redwall, from a VERY promising author:

Linky

Cover:
Image

Synopsis:
"Montagu Sylver is a famous weasel detective, intent on solving mysteries. Can he ferret out the truth when he learns that the anarchist Spindrick plans to blow everyone to smitherines with a fiendish bomb? Or find a lemming prince who vanishes almost as soon as he sets paw on Welkin soil?

Aided and abetted by his trusty weasel companions, Monty is soon on the trail, but the time is running out - especially when he becomes a fugitive from the law..."

So, what makes me interested in another series aimed at 'ung 'uns that seems like it rips off Redwall? Because the other books this author has written tell me he's an author of his own right who just likes the same idea. He's also written House of Tribes, Angel as well as an adaptation of Highlander! :D Sounds quite promising, I'll have to see where I can find some of his books.

I read some of the Redwall books, however I don't quite remember them all. All I know is that one year I had pneumonia and since I was gone from school for the whole week I read all the books my brother had.

Two days ago I saw a mod for Dwarf Fortress about this 'mouse guard' thing.

Reminds me of my sister... A long time ago she planned on writing a story about a mouse who wielded a sword named Peter.

I can't remember anything about the story, just the drawings she did.

But why does it always seem to be rodents that are the main characters?
