will there be more ninja elements included?
will there be more ninja elements included?
kind of a question to the devs. Here goes
Will there be a more advanced climbing system for Overgrowth than in lugaru. Say something like in games such as assassins creed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRV1aFenzSA gives a good impression of what i mean. In lugaru it didn't really seem that ninja-ish when all you could do when climbing was jumping, grabbing and get up on whatever the surface you tried to climb. That kinda limited the mapping so that if the player wanted to get onto a high surface he would have to jump from one block to another instead of crawling your way up. Generally lugaru wasn't as ninja as I'd expected it was more head on combat and not much parkour/freerunning. You never really did anything so damn ninja. I'm not really that disappointed i mean the game was developed by one guy and that is one hell of a good job I'd say, but for Overgrowth i hope that there will be some more ninja elements.

Yeah, it's confirmed, but my biggest fear is that the levels won't lead themselves to stealth. You can't really have traditional Lugaru fighting in a confined city (it works better in open areas), but you can't really have stealth with any depth in an open field.
What I'm oping for is a large amount of height advantages (tall buildings, walls, overhangs) that Turner can use if he wants to play ninja, and more plaza type areas in cities to allow for all out brawling.
Also, I'll use this post to stick in a plug for one of my crazy ideas I came up with when I had nothing to do:
And easy way to allow any object to be climbable would be to have any poly that was facing up marked as a hand/foot hold. Turner would then go about choosing footholds and handholds through the procedural engine. That way, it would not require Assasin's Creed-like placement of recurring handholds, and can be utilized with any modded objects.
Yeah. Anywho, to create a good climbing system, you also have to have a really good representation of mass. AC does this great, and I'd like to see something similar with OG.

Open field as an area of mowed grass is impossible to hide in. An open field as a grain field where you can't be seen if you crouch down would let you hide, but it would be somewhat monotonic to hide in. But an area with forests, ruins, undergrowth and cliffs could offer all kinds of interesting situations. In Lugaru you constantly hide behind the cubes, and I believe they'll be back in Overgrowth, and you might even be able to climb trees if there's a climbing system.TheBigCheese wrote:Yeah, it's confirmed, but my biggest fear is that the levels won't lead themselves to stealth. BTW, is the climbing actually confirmed or is it just "it's something we'd like to add"/"it's something we're looking into"?

Climbing has
Climbing hasn't been implemented as of yet (the little slide up the wall thing doesn't count). If it turns out to be unfeasible, it might not be added. I think the devs really want it in though.Endoperez wrote:BTW, is the climbing actually confirmed or is it just "it's something we'd like to add"/"it's something we're looking into"?
