PS3 game recommendations?

Post by Wolfire19 » Fri Dec 11, 2009 6:27 am

I just sold my Wii and will be picking up a PS3.

I typically play strategy PC games and I've enjoyed most of the top titles on the Wii. I don't care much for fighters and worry of an addiction to FPS titles.

I've had my eye on LittleBigPlanet for instance. Any other recommendations?

Little big planet is something you should get for a starter. It definitely is one of the greater PS3 titles.
Gran Turismo 5 will be something to look out for if you like racing games and i heard assassins creed 2 is far better than the first one.

Else you might want to look into these:
Metal gear solid 4 (skip if you've never played any metal gears before)
Dragon age
Bayonetta (hack n slash combo fest..sorta fun even if you don't like the typical japanese games)
Borderlands + DLC
Lost planet 2 (xbox 360 port. Might lack in some area's)
God of wars

If your PS3 can play PS2 games then I highly recommend Shadow of the Colossus.

On a similar note, The Last Guardian will almost certainly be worth getting when it comes out.

Games that are out that you might want to get (in no particular order, all very good)-:

Little Big Planet
Resistance: Fall Of Man
Resistance (fall of man) 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (no reason to get the original as Pacific Rift has more extensive multiplayer, prettier maps, and new vehicles)
Mirror's Edge (extremely fun when you get the hang of it)
Assassin's Creed 2
Metal Gear Solid 4 (which won't make too much sense if you aren't a Metal Gear fan, sadly)
GTA IV (a bit hyped up but it was still very fun and a pretty long experience, definitely worth the cash)
Battlefield: Bad Company
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (one of THE most overhyped games ever, but it was still pretty fun)
Borderlands
Killzone 2
Bioshock 2
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
inFamous / PROTOTYPE (Fundamentally, they offer the same experience except for a few details, so don't bother getting both)
Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition (I think it's the same price as the original but it has some more levels and content)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Some games to be released that you should probably get:

MAG (Massive Action Game. 256-player online FPS battles; fuck yeah) To Be Released - Jan 26, 2010
Battlefield: Bad Company 2. To Be Released - Mar 2, 2010
God Of War III. To Be Released - March, 2010
Assassin's Creed 3. To Be Released - ???

Happy gaming ;) (And this should probably be in Randomness)

there's really no point in playing assassin's creed 2 if you haven't played the first one, you kind of need the story from the first one.

Heavy Rain

Not coming until next year, but it's one of the major reasons why I got a PS3 in the first place. It's essentially the spiritual successor to "Fahrenheit" / "Indigo Prophesy".

Forgot about Valkyria Chronicles! Thanks for the reminder, Renegade - I'll have to snag that from my friend next I'm back in my hometown.

Tales of Vesperia. Granted you don't mind asian games and like RPG's.

well actually the game starts with the previous game's story being told. Actually i understood more of the story from the introduction that i got in assassins creed 2, than i did from playing the first game

You're amazing then, I played about 30 minutes of the second one and was completely lost.
