Yeah we got To Kill a Mockingbird way back in seventh grade never heard of Silas Marner. As to Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow they're not really just for young people, and it's always pissed me off a little bit when teenagers like them, even more so when they've never read Speaker for the Dead or Xenocide.

Whoa now, I read the entire Ender saga in 7th-8th grade, and liked all of it. Why does it piss you off when teenagers liked the books? Is it because they only read them because they think Ender is "Cool"? If that's the case, then I agree with you. The books are more psychology pieces than character works, and most people who read the books do not understand that.

It might be of interest to the youth generation, but that fact alone does not nullify the large amount of content in the Ender books that teenagers will not understand. Most teenagers read the books because they think the Battleroom is cool, or that the main character is cool because he killed two people before he was nine. Below the surface is a very large moral dilemma and a hell of a lot of intelligent psychological conversation and debate between the characters, and within them as well.
Try not to insult a book series you haven't even read.

The Road isn't exactly a slow read. The events are intense and exciting.
