I assume new preorderers are automatically authorized. There have been several new preorders lately.

At the time, people in the Overgrowth Preorderer group are even capable of Allowing or Denying new posts from people who are not in the group. Their posts does not need to be approved.

There have been a few legit posters in the Lugaru forum joining a few discussions about the game. Mostly, however, the rest are all spammers.

On a side note: there are a lot of new users, and these users have preordered as well. So it's not only a bunch of spambots registering. ;)

Now this thread is 4 pages, I can't seem to find something:

I've punted 5 or 6 first "posts" of blatant spam off using the [disapprove] button, and it's pretty satisfying, but is that as effective as the old reporting and having one of you Mighty Moderators smack their heads down like a Whack-a-mole game?

Does it go as far as the big ban-hammer in keeping them from reposting-- locking out their address, etc.?

What if disapproving a post would also automatically report the user, that would combine the best of both worlds.

hmmm, methinks it already is set up that way. I just booted out another, and it had a "prevent editing" box. I still can't tell how far it goes, though.

I am having great fun killing bots, and Overgrowth hasn't even been released yet =)

Don't  at me kehaar! :)

I know it is rather entertaining. Someone mentioned making it a flashgame where you shoot down the posts as they go by. I second this.

@kehaar, JacktheawesomeNope: disapproving a post won't ban the user or report them. We mods have to ban users manually, that is by finding their accounts through the memberlist / online list / newest user / birthday / unapproved posts and then banhammer em.

It would be nice if we could get a list of all users with disapproved posts. Like the other options I mentioned earlier in this topic, it could help a great deal in finding and banning spammers/bots.

That would be nice. Sorting by the memberlist by website would be pretty handy though, since that would narrow things down quite well.

It seems the bots have figured out how to post pictures and the media sort of things... and it doesn't look good... I think something needs to be done about that for unapproved users.

I have developed my "bot flash shooting gallery" thingie where you could shoot the posts down. We could make something like that the new proof mechanism for registering users.
The user has to shoot a beard wearing John instead of captcha. Now, I'm being serious about this. Of course it doesn't have to be a flash mini game, but something interactive that the bots cannot understand and the other websites don't have. If the other websites don't have it, then there is no reason to make new spam bots just to get into the wolfire forums.
