I have good deal more respect for you to think that you would get your research from anime shows David.
Also I know that sword fighting was not done with edge-to-edge blocking, that would really suck.
Also I am curious, what did you fashion your swords in Lugaru after? They seem kind of formless, like a thick rapier of some sorts.
@ Kalexon It is spelled "useless" and "field" and "Samurai." And the apostrophe is used for showing possesive, not multiple.

As long as you're gonna have a grammar freak-out, it's spelled "apostrophe".
"Judge not the grammar of others, lest your own grammar be judged", or something like that.

Grammar is also coloquially used to reference the entirety of one's writing skills in both spelling and structure, if you're going to nit-pick about it.

That is quite a collection of blades. Can't wait to see them painted with the blood of one's enemies.
Cleaving/Dismember would be coo. Even if it was less gruesom where a slash to the arm would merly rend that limb useless, rather than have it fly off in a gush of blood.
Watching the enemy try to keep fighting after loosing the use of an arm or a leg (like in SOS) is very cool.

Pah. That blood looks unnatural without the corpses.
As for cleaving, remember that one thing which makes Lugaru fun is the challenge. Enemies can do what you can. Would you like Turner to try to fight one-handed?
