staff impaling (with video)

Post by TomyLobo » Sat Jul 07, 2007 5:28 am

i just killed a wolf in a really strange way
i attacked him with a staff, he disarmed me
but the staff somehow didnt go into his hands but into his body
when i put him to the ground, rolled over him and took the staff, he died

i'll try to repeat the feat and post a screenshot

Sounds like your staff got confused with a knife, and ended up being "Thrown" at short range into the wolf, and when you took the staff via rolling over while he was down, it counted as the semi-famous "Stick it in, twist it, rip it out" kill, as I like to call it.

Pretty strange, maybe David can give us more info. :)

btw: if the knife is in his back, the staff ends up sticking out of his front and vice versa

It wasn't a normal wolf staff disarm move, either, or you'd've been sent flying. That is weirdness.

nope, you can easily try it yourself:
enter challenge 4
throw a knife at that wolf and make sure it hits
then get the staff from the staff bunny and get disarmed
best approach is trying to hit the wolf from the front

btw the forum needs to set the cookie domain to wolfire.com instead of www.wolfire.com. i just had to relogin because my cookies were for www.wolfire.com and i entered wolfire.com

Actually I think that's probably your fault.

I suppose putting a redirect from wolfire.com to www.wolfire.com would work though. I'm not that familiar with cookies, but isn't the domain the site you were connected to when you were sent the cookie? ie: wolfire.com if you were connected to that address, or www.wolfire.com if you were connected to that one.

Uh, I go back and forth between www and no-www and it works just fine for me either way.

It probably depends on your browser.

That too. I live in a world where the only browser that exists is Safari, however… Well, you get the idea.

when setting a cookie, you can specify its domain (as long as it's valid of course)
so foo.bar.baz.wolfire.com could either set a cookie for foo.bar.baz.wolfire.com or bar.baz.wolfire.com or baz.wolfire.com or wolfire.com
