Need finetuning help

I need help with some of the ways mentioned in other threads about killing wolves.
1.) Spinecrush
What is a spinecrush? Is it a leg cannon? Or is it a throat slit without a knife? How do you make it? Every time I flip over the head of a wolf (still can't jump behind them normally) and attack them, I just kick or punch them normally.
2.) Throat slitting
Same as 1. really, every time I'm behind a wolf with a knife out and attack, I kick the wolf. Not very useful.
3.) Flipthrowing
Usually when I throw a knife when flipping, it misses. Any way to be sure that it hits?
4.) "Slaying"
I read some people talking about stabbing a wolf when it's down, and apparently it gives the message "Slain!". But I never managed it, how are you supposed to do it? Sweep a wolf down, roll/run to it, crouch, attack? Just needs perfect timing?

1) Spinecrush is when you sneak up behind somebody and stealth kill them. This can also be obtained, albiet it is harder, by confusing the rabbit and ending up behind them and attacking.
2) Tracheotemy is a spinecrush with a knife. If you are reliably getting behind a wolf to do this move you are far better than most people, I doubt you are actually in appropriate position to do this.
The others I will leave to others more capable of explaining

Watch staffshock's video it will show you the new pro... oh yeah, and how to stealth kill wolves.
I usually miss these flip throws too, try flipping right at them so you're really close to them when you actually throw your knife. It might be a good idea to fake them out, flip, wait for when they are about done cartwheeling and then flip throw again. If you don't want them to cartwheel at all, you have to unsheath your knife while you are flipping and releasing your throw, pretty hard.
Slaying is a bit easier, it all has to do with how fast you can get to your unlucky victim, just legsweep and then crouch walk to their body (fast), and stab them with either a knife, or your sword. Pretty much what you thought it was (rolling could lose you time, depends on how far away they are).
And don't forget to check out the Lugaru Combat Wiki
(maybe we should update the wiki to easier explain each of the techniques by using proper subtitles for each one)

Youre probably kicking the enemies when youre sneaking up behind them because youre crouched, you have to crouch-walk up to them then right at the last second stand up and click.(to do a slit throat or a spinecrusher

Okay, full explanations that I'll be able to copy-paste in the future. I want a cookie for every time I can answer that way
1) You learn how to spinecrush in the tutorial. The enemy must not have spotted you; I don't think you can spinecrush after flipping like throat-slits and backstabbers. For this to work, you need to come from behind by crouch-walking or better, rolling. Stand up and immediatly attack when you're right behind your foe.
This won't work for wolves because they can smell you. You need to jump for afar, land behind them, and immediatly attack. You need to jump against the wind, or at least sideways, for this to work. Observe trees, snow, fire smokes and such for the direction of the wind.
Check out the videos I posted
here for live examples.
2) Throat slitting works the same, except you can also perform it after stunning the enemy (flip or wall-jump) and landing behind him. Staffshock's way is to have the knife out the whole time: check
his video. My way is to sheathe the knife and only get it out when you land, right before the deed. Thus enemies won't backflip or roll away during your jump.
Slit-throats are faster than spinecrushes and much harder to be cancelled if you're hit during the process. It doesn't deal damage to an incoming enemy as spinecrush sometimes can (very rarely).
3) Flip throwing is not accurate. Your chance of hitting the enemy is lower than a regular throw, but his chance of evading is also lower. In practice, this means it may be marginally better than regular throws against fast enemies, because the hit rate is more dependant on you and less on them.
4) Slaying is possibly the most difficult way to kill a wolf with a knife. Run to them as they fall, crouch, and attack. However, the aiming is often randomly off. It's much easier if you countered a wolf's sweep, because his subsequent fall is slow and you get more time to aim.

i am 95% sure you can spinecrush after your are spotted. In Silb's campaign, the Canyon level, I jumped up to a platform landing right behind the bunny (he was facing me as i flew) and turned around in the air and was able to spinecrush. While this is a slightly dfferent scenarios ince I could have disengaged him with that approach I am pretty sure I did not.

SLAIN! is rather cool
Also, try not to roll when slaying, at least not accidentally, it would probably be easier if you deliberately roll to get into the right position, but that depends on how good you are at rolling and such

@Zantalos: If you're calling me a pro, check out Silb's video. I couldn't do that if my life depended on it! Thanks anyway, though...
I think it's pretty much impossible to kill with a spinecrush after you've been spotted. It's kinda harder to pick up a moving guy and throw him over your shoulder than it is to stab him in the neck or back. Also, for slaying, there's one, and only one way I can get a slain message. Granted, it's much easier to do it with a sword, but here's how.
1: Take out your sharp weapon and wait until the enemy throws a leg swipe
2: Reverse it
3: While he's down to your left, run over and crouch without rolling on him
4: Attack
This should result in slaying him, but should be practiced in slomo. This is the easiest way for me, since I think it's the closest the enemy gets to you and the longest he stays on the ground.
EDIT: Same here, Silb said that about slaying. Man, I'm really off today...
For the flip throws, jump really high over the enemy, flip, and wait for him to stop rolling or back-handspringing as he usually does. Then after, he's still, flip again and throw. I think this increases the accuracy by a lot, or at least it works for me.
EDIT: I didn't read the rest of Zantalos's post, he said just what I said about flip throws, sorry about that.

I accidentally spinecrushed someone! I think it was challenge 12 (4 cubes, 2 wolves, some 5 rabbits [staff, 3 knives?]). I was hiding on top of a cube, when the staffrabbit walked under me. I jumped down and tried to attack him, accidentally spinecrushing him.
Not like I could ever repeat it, but hey, at least I did it once
Now, I just need to get a throat slit and a slain one. Usually I kill wolves using the throw knife - sweep - roll & pull knife trick. Or just leg cannon them a lot.
Edit: Accidentally backstabbed someone now, in the challenge where everyone has a sword (except for the player, of course). I had killed everyone else, and jumped towards the last bunny, who noticed me. Landed just behind me, and tried to slash him, but it came out as a backstab. I don't think I could reproduce that one either tho.
Edit II: Yay, I managed to spinecrush again! Changed back to easy so it would be easier to do the tricks, and after killing two bunnies and two wolves in challenge 12, I jumped to the last cube, and spinecrushed one of the rabbits. Jumping towards the rabbits usually doesn't work for me, and everytime I try to slit a throat, I just kick, but at least I'm making progress

Here's my big problem. I'm stuck on challenge level 14. (on insane of course) I've seen Silbs videos, where he pretty much jumps and lands right behind the wolves and spinecrushes 'em.

I can't seem to do this well. What will happen is when I'm in the air and very near to the wolf, it rolls and gets out of the way. Thus I'm not at all close to the wolf when I land.

There are no weapons on this level, (I would have pwn3d it already of it did) and there are no walls either. So what can I do to master the wolf spinecrushing? Or what else can I try to beat this level?
I have Fraps, so if anybody wants vids I can take 'em.

Hearken, friend, if thou wouldst learn how to swiftly kick ass at Lugaru.
Try to hold forward while jumping towards wolves, it makes the jump faster.

Heh heh heh. That's it, huh?
Well, now I know I can do that. Don't worry people, by the time I figure out how to run jump, I'll have mastered the game all ready!
<goes off to play>
Edit: Hey what gives? I tried doing that and you know what happened?
You're absolutely right. Nothing happened dangit! Still got owned like a mother. Mastered going forward while jumping too, could do it with my eyes closed.
I think the main thing I want to learn next is those wall kicks, they look so damn cool Silb!

Sorry, I meant holding forward while jumping.
