Flip Throwing

From the readme I get the impression that the chances of a flip knife throw actually hitting something is pretty random, and indeed your chances of hitting something seem about the same whether you are pointed at somebody or not.
However it seems to me that if you line turner's head up with your target right before you flip and throw, the chances of hitting are much greater.
Would david care to confirm if this is true or just my imagination?

On Normal (or Hard, or whatever) it seemed to me that the chances of hitting a direct knife throw were like 80%, and with a flip throw about 50-60%.

When I went to Insane, though, I found that if you throw a knife at an aware opponant, they dodge it nearly every time, so you have to do it when they're staggering or whatever, and in that case the flip throw actually has a greater success rate because the act of flipping confuses the heck out of guys for whatever reason.

What is the incentive for performing a flip throw if the normal throw has a higher rate of success?

It's much faster. Important for speedrunning through the game.

Well for one, you earn 60 points and a "Ninja Bonus" award (Booyah! :P ).
And for speed buffs who play chalange levels down to the seconds. Flip throwing is hella faster than normal throws, especialy if you burn the end off with a roll knife removable (good bye Wolves!).

I've been trying out a bunch of flip throws and this seems to be the case. Not only do you have to line up, but I think you also need to come down on your opponent too (if you're don't some long range tossing, otherwise I just jump directly at them. Also, you don't even have to do all that fake out stuff I once said, it's not about the enemy dodging the attack, it's about you missing. If you jump at an enemy, flip and throw at the same time, they won't react at all and will just stand there. Seriously, even if you miss, they'll still stand there. But for some reason flipthrows like this can only be done at near point blank range (so much so that you actually fly past the dude after you stick him one).

Also, flip throwing has higher miss rate (from you), but lower escape rate (from victim). So it might be better against skilled opponents.

I rarely find it actually useful, but I'm guessing Zip will agree it shortens level 3 ;)
