In my vast collection of "MIDI bits" I've composed in recent years, two of them, I've dedicated, in tribute, to Lugaru.

The reason they're so short, is because I haven't figured out how to loop certain tracks. In other words, the entire length of the song, is all me. Where one track repeats over and over, is me hitting the same keys (I don't even use a real piano-type keyboard, just my Macintosh G4 keyboard) over and over. No quantizing. No looping. Nothing automated.
I also don't have any "musical education". In other words, I can't read sheet music. I can't play a piano. All you're hearing is, what I call "tromping on the keyboard". I do everything "by ear". I create a "pattern" I like and I manually repeat that a few times (the more complex the sequence, the shorter the song is, usually. Basically because my eyes and fingers get tired and I mess up eventually and that means I have to do the whole sequence over again).
I actually even surprise myself, with how good my music sounds, given that I'm not composing it traditionally. I'll leave it up to someone else to expand upon my "MIDI bits" and make them into longer, more elaborate songs, if they're interested. I also have a ton of .MOD files people can listen to, if they have the player for it on their Atari ST, Amiga, BeOS, or PC computer. Those are significantly longer songs, because I knew how to do automated looping with the editor I used, and it had some really nice samples, too. Sad those days are over. Those days were fun!
I do my MIDIs, because it's an expression of "me" that needs to come out. Some draw art. Others write. And others sing. I hit keys in certain sequences to "compose" MIDIs. We all need our outlet.
Since GM's (General MIDIs) often sound different, depending upon the computer you're using, if you're not using a Mac, running MacOS X 10.3 or higher, the MIDIs may not sound quite right. I'm going to boot up my "BeOS/Haiku box" (which also, incidentally, has Windows XP installed on it as well) to see how the MIDIs sound on a PC.
Having been out of the Lugaru scene awhile (I don't remember where my registration code is (I hope I still have it in an Email somewhere), what is the latest on the Lugaru sequel (if any)?
Given that my initial post was mainly to tell people about my two Lugaru-themed MIDIs, what did you think of those two, specifically? Did they "fit" (sound sufficiently Lugaru-ish)?

I just listened to my MIDIs on my site, in Windows XP, using the latest iTunes/Quicktime and I can, most assuredly, tell you... USE A MAC! Seriously! Not just because I use a Mac (some platform prejudice there, but...), but because that is the only system I have where the songs sound right.
Both Lugaru-based songs are totally off. Most of the songs on my site sound meaningless, because several of the tracks in them aren't being played right, so you're not hearing the full song, as it's meant to be heard.
If your initial impression of most of my songs was "well, this is kinda a lot of nothing to listen to. There're maybe two tracks, at most, in this song.", PLEASE use a Mac, running MacOS X 10.3 or later. Use the Safari web browser, also. That's the only way I know you'll be hearing my MIDI's the way they're supposed to be heard.
