WinXP Mouse-Look Trouble
WinXP Mouse-Look Trouble
I haven't got the full version, but I think it doesn't make a difference.
The problem: whenever I move the mouse above a certain speed the game doesn't recognize this movement, i.e. I move the mouse but the bunny won't turn. This happens only ingame, the cursor in the menus works fine.

Hmm, if I'd guess, I'd guess that since in most 3d games, the cursor is locked in the middle, and when you move the mouse the position only gets reset to the middle after so and so long... My guess is that you somehow move the mouse outside the game.
Silly me.
What's your screenresolution in-game and computerspecs if you can provide any o.0
I've never heard of this before, though.

Athlon 64 3500+

The thing with moving the mouse out of the game makes sense, especially since I'm using two screens, but: since the other screen is only on one side of the screen the game runs on, shouldn't this error just appear when I move the mouse in the direction of the other screen, i.e. out of the "game screen"? It actually appears in both direction, if not to say in all directions.
I'll try deactivating the second screen and see if anything changes.
[edit]
Nope, no difference when playing with only one screen activated.

If using an optical mouse, try to use it on a surface that does not reflect a lot. Using an optical mouse on a white/whitish surface is a big mistake. I was having a problem fairly similar to what you're talking about before with my mouse, and I changed the surface under the mouse, it began working fine. I just slipped a brown piece of paper under it, and it stopped.
I am already using a non-reflective surface with my mouse.
Even if the surface were the culprit, why would this only show up in Lugaru and nowhere(!) else as far as my experience with programs and games goes?
[edit]
I just tried playing the game on my PC with a ball-mouse and at first I thought the problem wasn't there, but it is, only that you have to move the ball-mouse way faster than the optical one to get the effect of Lugaru not responding to the movement so I guess it has something to do with the response-time or resolution of the mouse.
Again: why is it, that this problem only comes up in Lugaru? Do other Ego-/Third-Person-Games or programs somehow interpolate the missing information that gets lost when I move the mouse too fast? If so, is it possible to integrate that into Lugaru?

Well, however hectic my movements maybe, why does only Lugaru have a problem with that, because I don't believe I behave greatly different in Lugaru than in any other game (of the same genre). After all Lugaru doesn't have that high a tolerance for the velocity of my optical mouse, so it needs no "jerky" movements to trigger the problem mentioned above.
I'm just wondering what all the other games and programs have, that Lugaru (concering interpretation of mouse movement) has not.

Considering you are the only person to ever experience this problem, I suspect that it is probably some bizarre driver compatibility issue. The guy who did the Windows port has long since been missing in action (last seen in the middle of Hurricane Katrina) so if this is in fact a bug in Lugaru's mouse code as you seem to be implying, there's nothing that can be done.

On that note, Jeff, who is going to port Lugaru 2 to Windows? I think I remember someone suggesting they it was going to be released compatible with all systems all at once, but neither David or anyone else ever seemed to say anything definitive on the matter. Sorry for bring the topic off-course, I just had to ask.
Lugaru 2 is being developed on Windows, so a more pertinent question is who is porting it to Mac and Linux? The answer is that I will probably end up creating Mac OS X's universal binary given my familiarity with Apple's Xcode. As for Linux, Ryan Gordon (aka Icculus, the man who ported Lugaru 1 to Linux) will probably work his magic again, but we have no word from him yet.
