I was having a no sound issue with Lugaru in Ubuntu 6.06 that i fixed with a little googling, but I thought I would post it here in case anyone has it in the future.
Problem: No sound in linux, specifically Ubuntu 6.06 AMD64.
Solution: Get the openal packages with your distribution's package manager. If the problem still persists, edit /etc/openalrc and change the output device from default to hw:0,0. Note this is assuming you use alsa as your default sound manager.
