Brand New Slide Map

Post by Zantalos » Sun Jul 09, 2006 11:46 pm

Yes, now I'm finally getting around to post this map!

It's basically a playground map I created off of David's Raider Base level. The concept is from things like
Viking Zippy wrote:I suppose the funniest thing I've ever seen in Lugaru is when setting the speed to 20 or so, hitting H about 50 times, running, pressing N, flying hundreds of feet in the air, and eventually bouncing around on the ground :P

It's funnier than it sounds ... my brother and I could watch that for 10+ minutes, laughing the whole time :P
Because really, stuff like that is hella fun to do... and pretty much exclusive for Lugaru only (though I use a speed like 3 for stuff like that :) ). Anyways, you start at the top of the slide, hit h a few times (going to map editor mode won't save you, trust me, I died many many times thinking like that. Oh, and use h at the minimum, you don't get damage effects that way, bloody mouths are good), and then walk over to the edge and hit n to fall limply down the chute. And that's it, for some reason this amused my so much to continue designing this slide to what it is now, it was just that entertaining.

And remember folks! When venturing down the slide for the first time, remember to fall down the center! Nobody wants to fall down the edges now, this stuff is dangerous! You will only find the most minimal safety checks to ensure a fast trip and a fun time down this wicked ride.

Oh yeah, for a group event, consider changing your weapon to a sword and spawn enemies on the upper side of the chute. Slash them down, and this single seater will turn to a full amusement park ride, easy now!

Ok, a corny introduction but here's the real thing. One unzipped file called slide, hosting by rapidshare (because really, who zips up anything less that a megabyte). This is a non-combat based map.

Wizzoh! here's the map, hope you guys find it as entertaining as I did (man hope you guys don't experience any lag, It should be pretty good though. I cleaned up all the useless junk I found.)
The two beams at the top are the stoppers, it can get really annoying without them, if you are attempting to fly back to the top (flying is tough, especially if you miss your mark).

Neat. Thanks, Zantalos!

No lag here, except in 8-player races :?

Nice map! That's basically what my tower maps were aiming at. I like your approach!

People do that sometimes to archive multiple files or to get around filetype-restricted upload scripts :)

Awesomely fun....I actually liked not hitting N and seeing how fast i could make it down. although N did allow me to enjoy the fall more.

That map is awesome dude, I would've posted earlier but I was away from my home computer, on dialup, and had no Lugaru :P

Now I just wish it were possible to spawn more than 8 bunnies ... imagine that ... 30 rabbits, all tumbling down the slide ... *drool*

Yeah! Thanks for the awesome comments people, I appreciate it! Ha ha, man I didn't even know if you guys would even like something like this, thanks again for the great feedback! :o

Well, this map was fun to do. Probably the main reason it took a long time to finish was from myself screwing around on it way too much... fun times. Oh and hey, glad you guys got the mulitplayer slide thing down so fast, and especially with those vague instructions, it took a while to do it right, myself.

Ahh right and as Bob said, lots of things like running straight down the slide for the increased speed, maybe I could see if it's possible to jump back up it.
Oh a challenge! It's possible to go down the slide from beginning to end without dying, without hitting h, and while staying in ragdoll mode (I've only been able to do it on normal, you don't get much health on extreme, though enemies can do it!). Some of you probably already have an idea of what to do, but I'll say it anyways in case it doesn't make sense.
When you slow down time with b, the body constraints are increased and you take almost no damage when you fall on your limbs. Well there you go! Hope someone else can manage to do this as well, it's pretty cool how you bounce off your legs like this, they're very bendy.

Quite innovative and extremely fun for your first attempt at a map. At least you didn't make another generic "room full of enemies, run in and kill" map.

Good stuff, Zantalos.
