My gift

Post by Syn » Tue Nov 21, 2006 6:04 pm

Hello everybody! I'm new here but I've been playing Lugaru for afew months now and absolutely love it. I've recently been playing around with editing the game (skins, weapons, etc) and I think I finally have a contribution to the community. I wasn't really comfortable witht he Darth Maul skin that was available with the Star Wars mod so I drew up a new one. I did it freehand in photoshop with just a little cutting and pasting from the cover of the Darth Maul novel over one of the original fur skins (insert circumcision joke). It could use a couple tweaks, but for the most part came out looking pretty good IMO.

It took me maybe 2hrs including smoke breaks to put this together. Since many of the links are dead I thought I'd throw this out for newer players to get. I'm working on a couple other skins at the moment and will put 'em here as they come out.

By the way, my Maul skin looks fantastic with Jesse's "Alternate Leather Armor" mod and the boots are from Zip's "Matrix" mod. I tried to create my own boots, but I finally accepted that his were absolutely perfect.

There is a pretty good chance I'll come back to this skin and add to it later, but I'm basically throwing this out to the community to do whatever with so share away.

That could look like the rabbit from Donnie Darko with a few changes...

Excellent work, Syn. I love the way it looks.

I added some dimension and transparency to the eyes; I did the same thing with my mods, 'cuz I think the eyes look kinda flat in the original.

The highlights help the original, black eyes look more reflective, but adding some dimension and transparency makes them look more alive, I think.

Here's what DM Bunny looks like with my eyes.

Not really an improvement on yours, more of a personal preference mod.

I gave my T glowing blue eyes ('cuz he's achieved Perfect Self); here's what they look like in the texture.

I first used yellow on my T, and it looked pretty spooky. I think I'd need to mess around with your yellow eyes to make them look more evil (the effect I like best); I have to admit that I didn't preserve the layers when I made the original, and I don't exactly remember the sequence of filters and distortions I used. I need to experiment a bit.

I also once made some eyes based on a star sapphire, slightly transparent, with a reddish background and a twirling liquify filter. Kinda weird, like this:

Anyway, great work. We need more talented modders. And thanks for the gift. I look forward to your future contributions.

Really, REALLY cool skin.

It doesn't really look like DM, but those eyes....coolness!

Upcoming Skin

Post by Syn » Wed Nov 29, 2006 3:18 am

I'm working on a new one which I will hopefully have done by the end of the week and this screenshot depicts how far I've gotten (only the chest armor and vest). Currently, the shoulderpads are giving me a bit of difficulty mostly just due to how the model distorts when moving around.

Originally I was going to make this a skin for the leather armor, but I figured that I'd wanna see this skin in the non-armor levels so I decided to make it a rabbit skin, though I suppose that it would be easy enough to convert.

It's just a skin so if you're wearing any armor it will be covered up, but here you go. I didn't do his lower half because our little bunny hero has on a new pair of pants in almost every level but rarely wears a shirt. Oh, and I promise that my next one will not be with the dark gray/black fur.

When I put my skins on T, I put them over fur3 and take any clothing out of the textures folder that would cover it up, including all the leather armor.

There may be a few naked bunnies, but nobody wears my armor but T.

Any skins I use I just use as clothing whenever I want to use them

ie: Convert to PNG, place in textures folder, use the clothes command
