The Meaning of Lugaru

Post by Szs315 » Thu Mar 08, 2007 12:48 am

I have found a website of a company called lugaru that says what it means - the company makes a program called epsilon which is 20 years old:

http://www.lugaru.com/why-lugaru.html
Why "Lugaru"?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes people ask what our company name, Lugaru, means. It's actually a phonetic spelling of the French word for werewolf, "loup-garou". One day in 1984, after finally turning off the computers and noticing the sun had come up, we decided this might be an appropriate name for our new company.
Now you know.

We can't comment on whether the Lugaru wolf is actually named Lou Garu. He won't say (and you don't argue with a werewolf).

Yeah it is, I was just joking, but it was a bad one.. concept art isn't a broad
enough term.

It would be awesome with wolves with glasses & ties in L2 :D

Le loup -> The wolf (lat.: lupus)
Le loup-garou -> The werewolf

Click here: French wikipedia article
Then click 'English' under 'Autre langues' (bottom left).

"Werewolf"

Y'know, I swear David posted something about this either in the blog or somewhere on the forums. I certainly knew before this thread was posted - and my french is terrible.

Personally I always took it to be a reference to Turner, who appears as harmless as any of the rabbits, but is more fierce than even the Alpha wolf. A wolf in rabbits clothing if you will. And the most brutal killer the island as seen in a long time, I'd wager.
