David wrote:…preparing…
There's the problem, preparing something matters too much, the only things that are in my interests are the various testing, prototype and demonstration apps you make those GIFs with, that's really all I need in a "Prototype". We love the GIFs, so more things like that Phoenix UI app are my idea of prototypes.
P.S: Please don't release any of these apps. I hate changing people's minds and/or persuading people.

The fact that the current unoptimized SVN is several gigabytes is kind of a problem too.

Yes, that could be a problem too.

Hmm, preparing pre-release stuff for public complaints never was a problem I had (as a developer in so far non-gaming professional context). But you're right, that's what devs said as a recap of E3.
There was an interesting and extremely dramatic video of the guys who did God of War II where they freaked out and nearly stabbed each other because of the extreme amount of additional value they had to put into the game for E3. Dunno where that was though. Probably gametrailers.
Edit: Yeah, here you go
(WMV) /
(MOV)
But those games are content monsters... That's a big factor there.
And in my world, it's idea -> concept -> prototype -> recap with experts -> expert concept -> development with experts looking while you type -> demonstration meetings with experts taping your falling sweatdrops -> further developments with mad experts -> recap with experts -> further dev + expert craziness -> release -> boss anounces some weird bunch of enhancements that don't make sense and are impossible to implement -> next concept (not realistic) -> experts arrive ... It's worse although you have a working app all the time. Since the experts are also the customers, it's kind of XP philosophy. Let me tell you, fun is elsewhere (although they tell you other stuff at the university).

Do you even think there would be lugaru but on a hand-held or console?
Like the wii in can't fathom how fun it would to virtually reverse a foe or even to slash him with my virtual sword!
THAT would be awesome.. :p
But, like always there is the problem of time and money...

I have a little remark, and I hope that I won't insult anybody, but it looks like David has quite an amazing number of posts on these forums, which probably took a whole lot of time to type. Maybe you're simply tired of Lugaru! (I can understand...)
I wonder if there might be some other people out there who could help you(friends?). If not, maybe is there a way we could help(with school, for example)?
P.S: Where could I get a map editor?

If anyone wants to write a middle eastern studies paper for me, I promise I will work on Phoenix in the extra time.
Official update
But seriously, it's true, there has not been a ton of progress recently and there is not going to be a whole lot of tangible, "screenshot-able" work done in the next year, until we graduate. In highschool, we actually had a lot of free time and David made Lugaru, blackshades, etc. and I made some miscellaneous stuff like AIMM and contracted myself out to Amazon sellers, however college has made it difficult to do anything. During Summer and breaks, the Phoenix engine and Lugaru 2 has come a long way, but there are extended periods of downtime when midterms, papers, finals, etc. are looming. It has been really tempting to drop out and just concentrate on Wolfire Software, but after a lot of thought, college does have a lot to offer even though the academics aren't necessarily that useful to us.
Outside of academics, recently David finished the graphics for a card game that he was contracted by Freeverse to do. That took up a ton of time, but was a valuable experience. He is currently working on some physics software (think next-generation of Havok) with a grad student from Cornell. I have been doing some research with a CS professor on next generation user interface system that will show up in Phoenix and have about 40 pages of a design document written for an ultra secret new game.
Once we graduate next year, we are going to officially start up Wolfire Software and get physical offices and such. Then we will be churning out awesome games at a ridiculous speed.
