same question (I think) as Blorx: When will the Windows version be out?

Christ, this is like Uplink all over again... :P

It'll be out when it's done. On the order of months, one would imagine.

OK. OK. I was just curious. No need to get mad.

So you think it will take months? I guess it depends on how hard-coded the game is to the OS.

Heh, sorry, didn't mean to come off as snappy. No hard feelings :)

It's hard to say, without knowing about the code (and the person porting it). I would say 1 month would be an absolute minimum for a complete port (assuming the code is all textbook and clean and it all works perfectly the first try) and six months is about as long as a project this size could possibly take. So unless David is a very, ah, eccentric coder, or he accidentally went to the wrong kind of porter, "a couple-few months" is a good enough guess.

My code is very clean, and I had already made significant progress, so it could actually be done within a few weeks if there aren't many unexpected bugs. However it could take as long as a few months if things go wrong. It's really hard to tell.

Well, I guess I just got told :P Still, pessimism in dates is usually a good thing; your best case scenario can become a pleasant surprise.

...or, more often, a distant memory, but it's probably best not to think about that :P

I recall thinking that Lugaru would be released several months before it actually was, so pessimism would not be entirely unwarranted. You are right that it will be done when it's done, and it's never possible to say exactly when that will be.

Actually I have it up and running... now! 8) All that's left is to fix a few sound bugs and the texture compression.

So, you will release it in how many days?

I might post the beta here soon, since it has the registration system already set up.

It is being ported by Geoffrey Curtis, aka Defiance

We are working from where the last guy left off, which was a mostly working port of an older build, so all we really have to do is make sure it is synchronized with the mac build, and fix any remaining bugs.
