Lugaru Commercial!

Hello all,
I've beaten Lugaru, Lugaru Temple, and Lugaru Empire and Lugaru Empire and loved all three games. I'm Currently developing a Lugaru Commercial for Wolfire and have the copyright on my computer. I wonder where I can get the Lugaru mp3's for the commercial, can anyone help me? also If you have any requests for the commercial just talk to me via gmail. So far I don't know what music to put in the background, and if Wolfire gave me permission to use their music, the commercial will last for ever and not be destroyed because of copyright violation
thank you!
-Henry
P.S.-I would enjoy it if this bulletin was made into a sticky because it seems to be a very important subject.

Isn't the music actually royalty-free? I recall someone mentioning it. I don't really know though.

19.99 what? Spacebucks? Dildos?
You need to be more specific here. The internet is a GLOBAL network.
Why didn't you upload a version with a higher resolution and a more sophisticated codec? There are artifacts all over the place.
Why did you record in Debug mode?
Lugaru isn't restricted to Windows XP. It reportedly also runs on Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT and Vista. I don't know about Windows 95, it probably doesn't run there.
You could have put an actual link into the video description.
Speaking of which, there are diverse case mistakes in there and the last sentence ends unfinished.
To sum things up, you could do much better. In its current state, the commercial does not suggest a better product than you'd get, which is the usual premise. Work harder.

Looks good to me; I am always happy to see Lugaru videos

It makes sense to show off the debug features since that is a big part of what you get when you buy the full version. Rudel, it would be cool to see your version of a Lugaru ad to show everyone how it's done

So now you're trying to score even more free ads from unsuspecting fans? Shame on you.
Actually giving you a Lugaru ad that's better is besides the point.
And I've put more than enough free work into Lugaru anyway.
Henrymou, take what I said to heart and don't take it as an attack. I know it's lots of work to put something like this together. In fact, I've done it myself multiple times. Good for you that you made it. Yay. Here's cake.
But believe me, you can do much better.

Well, to be fair, your advice really wasn't worth taking to heart. This is all you said.
-put a $ sign in front of 19.99
-add a link to the website
-take out xp
-take out 'by raiders from the north' in decription
-take out "works for" in description
Youtube is pretty good, but you should host this on
www.gametrailers.com because it will get a lot more views.
I think the gameplay shots could be better. Put more fighting in there that's clear to see, and show off things like puncture, slain, or a mega combo. Also, yourself getting kicked off from some place high and falling to the ground. I don't really understand the flaming bodies or exploding head part, you shoudl make the head explode when you roundhouse kick him and you should make them catch on fire when you push them in there.

A dollar sign really doesn't help much compared to no dollar sign. I paid around $40-$50 for Lugaru, and yes, the NZ Dollar uses the exact same dollar sign!

My advice is to polish your stuff more before releasing it. That's what it boils down to. Don't just 'throw it out there'.
Not the individual hints, they're meaningless.

ok I'm back and yes I know the video isn't very good. I don't know how to get away from debug mode. But that's not the point, the point is for our game to attract as much publicity as possible, I will make more commercials in higher quality as all games have numerous trailers. The problem is that windows can't make movies for
[email protected]#$ and I would much appreciate it if people gave me a large amount of clean Lugaru clips to mold and work with. This commercial is a rough draft and I am still working on the second commercial. Lesson learned: fraps sucks.
Also I didn't just slap this video on youtube, I've worked on it for like five days, but just wait, it will catch some views.
the ultimate goal is when someone types in Lugaru on youtube, our commercials come first.

I liked the video itself. It could be cut harder and more on the beat, but that is a matter of preference.
Debug mode is adjusted in Lugaru/Data/Config.txt
If you want to capture hires footage, you've got 2 relatively cheap options:
1) You have a powerful computer and use something like fraps while playing on the same machine
2) You use a screen filming technique
There are also other options with multiple machines, but they usually exceed common budget restraints. Ask away if you want to know details.
our game
our commercials
I would enjoy it if this bulletin was made into a sticky
talk to me via gmail
all three games
developing a Lugaru Commercial
have the copyright on my computer
windows can't make movies
This commercial is a rough draft and I am still working on the second commercial
You confuse me in multiple ways. I'm puzzled concerning your thought-to-speech transformation method.

One thing I liked about the commercial were some of the shots you did. They were a bit jumpy at times, but the ideas were very good. Things like camera rotations while jumping struck me as cool. I like the aspects of the game you chose in general, it looked very cool.
About the editing, yes it could be cleaner, be more ambitious in matching it to the music. For editing software...you should consider Avid Media Composer if you are really interested in editing. It (and Final Cut) are the industry standards, and Avid gives a HUGE student discount. With that you should be able to get it for $300 (down from thousands).
Rudel's criticism's are minor but you should keep them in mind. Fixing these little details will keep your commercial looking more professional.
But once again, I really enjoyed your video overall, I liked the features you showed. Work on taking advantage of the music, and making it cleaner and more professional in general, and it will really rock.
