I have started a mini Lugaru RPG/RN fight game. (Top down view) It uses my very own Dotex game engine with a few added features.

What it will not be:
- A 3D game (3d rendered maps though!)
- A Scroller
- Incredible

What it will be:
- A sort of cross between a MUD and a 2D RPG
- Simple

I will post 0.1 for download somewhere when it is done.

(PS: This is NOT the top-down-scroller Blorx has been talking about! It's something completly different!)

Uh.... does this presentation sound somewhat familiar? :)
Just what does your Dotex engine currently feature?

Since it is going to be a 2D rpg, is the gameplay going to be like a console style rpg or more of a computer type of rpg? even play like Kingdom Hearts Chains of Memories?

Also what do you mean by simple? Is there going to be a rpg system like gaining exp, use hp/mp, 3 or 6 characters you can control in battle?

About the same time as your Lugaru Online.

right, I am here to answer all questions!

Dotex is not quite finished yet! I have been working on it little by little! Dotex is meant to be a simple, yet super easy to use game engine. It's main use is desktop games. This may seem to limit it but a desktop game can be very large and expansive too.

When I say RPG I don't mean a band of characters on a mission together. You play the role of a rabbit (finally, you can be someone else besides turner!) on a very vague mission on the Island of lugaru.

Dotex is named for it's original game, Widgets Life (which by the way, never got released.). In widgets lifem you played a red dot that you could move arounf the map using n,s,e,w buttons. The objective was to move the red dot to the yellow dot to "breed" and keep the chain of life going. However, there was a purple dot (predator) and if he got you or the yellow dot you lost health. The "dot" feature stuck with the name. (hence "dot"ex).

Current projects using Dotex:

There are two games being built using Dotex, Dotagu and Apex. Dotagu is as you know, the rpg/random num fight version of lugaru. Apex is going to be much longer and much more extensive. In apex you will play, guess what, a dot, on a mission to free the virtual world of "apex" from the anarchy and currently rules it.

NOO! I JUST DELETED THIS ENTIRE POST WITHOUT COPYING IT AGAIN!!

Sorry, due to this error, i will not bother to rewrite everything i wrote.

Perhaps I will post again sometimes...

I did not mean it like that dudethecreator. What I meant on my post was the battle system. I did not mean it by a bunch of characters coming together on a mission of some sort, I just meant turn base battles.
