Hello, I am a new player to Lugaru, and I must say I am so far impressed. I am having problems, however, in trying to change my resolution. Upon searching these forums, I read that the game can only run in full-screen mode -- which may be problematic, because for me it is running in WINDOWED mode...

My computer is widescreen, but the main issue is the Lugaru window is slightly off the bottom of the screen, and it is completely immobile. I tried to change my resolution for it to fit on the screen, but whenever I do, it remains the same; the options menu always lists my resolution as 1024 by 768.

Interestingly, the config file lists my resolution as whatever I changed it to; the change just doesn't seem to take effect somehow.

I am running Windows Vista with a 1280 by 800 monitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

*EDIT: another question, somewhat related -- what is the difference between the Start menu shortcuts "Lugaru" and "Lugaru (safe)?" When I try to run Lugaru, it displays an error stating it "could not set display mode." I have to run the game using Lugaru (safe), which I could not find any information on. In short, what is it? Is this part of my display problem?

I don't know much about Vista, but I've heard of other apps having problems with it because it tries to force programs to save their config, etc. in Program Files instead of wherever they normally put it (generally in the same directory as the executable itself). This is part of trying to prevent programs from writing to places that they shouldn't have access to.

Vista stores the lugaru config in a weird place. See:

Hmmm, I looked for a config.txt in the location suggested in that topic, but that location doesn't seem to exist...

I do have a config file in C:\Program Files\Lugaru\Data though, which is the one I was checking for changes...

as another test, I enabled debug mode using this Config.txt, and it worked... so I believe this is the proper directory.

*EDIT: After toying with the two Start menu shotcuts, I discovered that the Lugaru shortcut clears my user data when I try to run it; I can still run the game using Lugaru (safe), and all of my options and settings are intact. So, I guess this may qualify as another wholly different problem?
...I'm out of ideas on this one...

I'm trying not to be annoying, but I'm also desperate for some sort of solutions...

I've renamed this topic to state both problems I'm having, and also reposted to attract attention... DID IT WORK?!?
Surely someone here knows at least the difference between the two shortcuts. I could post my system spec's, if anyone thinks it may help.

well, for me on windows vista safe opens it in windowed mode and normal opens it in full screen, and that's about the only difference that I've seen.
