Actually, he made Lugaru in a distant future, and beamed the code back in time to his past self's subconscious mind while he slept, to ensure the creation of it's sequel Overgrowth which will directly lead to peace on Earth and free beer for all mankind.

Also, Jeff is a robot from another dimension, sent to ensure his success.
