Alternate Endings Again

I just found the alternate endings for Lugaru. I did a search and realized that I wasn't the only one. But now this makes me wonder: is there any way to get these alt endings w/o debug mode?

No. They're vestigial remnants of what was planned at some point but dropped at a later date, with the map files still intact.

Alternate endings?

...ah...

Forgive me, I believe I should know about these, having been here for so long, but...

..what?

In the map directory you'll find a map that you can't normally get to from the campaign (I forget what it's called... it might be map14 but I haven't checked in a while)

Just go to the map in debug and you'll get the alternate ending.

The alternate ending begins with 'start27' and ends with 'start30'.

Perhaps the bunny killing one could be added to the original campaign file? I like that one...

I haven't seen them in a while, but I definately remember a map where turner decided to ignore the rabbit rebels rather than kill them like in the alternate ending you're talking about.

Id be damnd if I could find the origonal quote, but David was wanting to use branchs in the campain to change the story, but he could not get it to work how he desired and droped the idea.

I thought as much. Sounds exactly like sometimes David would indeed want to do.

I hope he succeeds in finding a way to do it in OG if he wants to.

hahah he started lugaru in the eighth grade, without any real formal education. whereas now he's got years of college and practice behind him, and a team of people helping, there's no way it's gonna be so simple that he'll have to bother with that simple of a branching story line.

A branching storyline can be very complex, personally I'd prefer an oblivion or fallout 3 style storyline, in that the main story is the same except for minor details and there are several side-stories with several choices and stuff. That way any sequels have something to start from rather than just starting the story somewhere or sometime unrelated, while still giving us choices.

I first heard that David made Lugaru as a Sophomore in college. That was impressive enough, but then the age went down to highschool and now I'm hearing 8th grade?? I'm curious to as what it actually was.

I believe he started it in eighth grade, and took a really long break from it.

I heard he made his first game in 8th grade or something like that, but not that he started lugaru then.

IPiecing David's history together is like being an archeologist

hahah as far as I know he'd been making hyper card games for a long time before that. perhaps we should ask for an official source of information.
