Object shifting--Solution?

Post by Untadaike » Tue Apr 21, 2009 1:35 am

Any (Lugaru) map editors will be familiar with the bug that can occur when you have a bunch of objects with some touching each-other and when you go to load the map, they shift from their original placement location. Not sure if you can tell from this picture, but the following is an example:

Does anyone know of any way to stop this bug from occurring? Or is it complete chance that your object-filled, complicated map will decide to screw up?

I know of no way to fix it, but in my map-making days I found that there were certain small areas on the map that would not allow objects to be placed in them. So that may be the problem, you could try building in a different spot.

hoo-boy, this 'll be fun, remaking the whole map. But hey, they never said that Lugaru map-editing would be easy or bug-free!(And it isn't...)

But thanks for the rp, honorable master :D

uh, you can use Dedit to shift the object placement after you save the map... is see no reason to remake the map. also: are you sure the objects are shifting, or the terrain? the terrain shifts upon restarting lugaru for mac-made maps. in my experience, objects don't move once they're placed so this is very new to me. yeah, maps just randomly bug out now and then, keeping backups is a good idea. anyway, i'd also like to know whether you're on a mac, or something else. if you are on mac, then i probably know why this is going on, if you're on windows, it's probably a random bug.

No, I meant Dedit. Windows program that should run in Crossover. It's a Lugaru map editor, and once you know how to use it, it saves you a lot of grief.

I fixed it, or, more appropriately, it randomly fixed itself. I just replaced the 6 objects that were sicking up on the wrong carpet and they randomly behaved. But thanks for the help, guys :)
