Direction improvement suggestions

Post by Number 6 » Tue May 17, 2005 6:12 pm

If you're taking ideas for improvements, how about a simple direction finder, maybe a compass in the corner or something like that?

Early on, I used to run off to draw wolves and so forth away, fight them one-on-one. Only problem was, it took forever to find my way back; like on the three-wolf part of the campaign. If you go far enough in the right direction, you end up at the village. Then, of course, you have to figure out how to get back.

Haven't done much roaming too far from the main locations lately, but it'd still be nice to have some indicator showing where the main site for the level you're on is found.

This would be nice. Also, I wondered why the map went on forever...

It doesn't, it's just big.
But hitting the edge of the world sort of breaks suspension of disbelief.

True. That's also another reason I'd like a direction finder or Quicktime-viewable maps or something, just so you can know where you are in relation to everything else. The invisible edge of the world makes it tough to know where you are, because you think you're heading for the sunset and that blurry cave in the distance, and all of a sudden you hit a wall. Very annoying situation to get into when your running from the wolves and run out of running room.

Incidentally, is there any way to view the maps from different levels and campaigns? The only items that seem to be viewable are the png files.

i found that a great way to check out a map is just when you start, type "viewdistance 3" into the console (u need 2 be in debug) and flyu upwards. you see the whole map. its cool.
by the way... what pansy runs from a wolf so bad that he hits the end of the map?

Hey, gimme a break, I was new to the game. I hadn't even tried the leg cannon bit yet.

Still would like to be able to know where I am...
