Perhaps the author could recompile the binary with new libraries, the current version is obsolete and thus unusable. Or give us some tool to configure the game and/or provide us with library version requirements.

Also, please don't bother with useless, clueless advices like "buy a mac" or "defrag your harddisk", it's quite annoying. Thanks.

Whoa

Dude, you need at least one million posts before you can give us orders :P
I think levbot just made a bad joke.

Welcome to the Wolfire Forum, anyway :)

Sorry, I did not mean to order anyone. It was meant as suggestions to make the game playable for us Linux users with updated systems.

Compiling would be the best option, but I guess this game is not an open source.

Nonono, no need to execu.. excuse yourself.
And I meant only the second part of your post.
You sounded like a moderator telling the forumnoobs to STFU

On topic, I think David said that the game might be open source sometime in
the future. Not going to happen soon though, I think.

If you're a hardcore freak, you either use Wine to play Lugaru (Windows version) on Linux or you set up an outdated chroot environment :D

I will forward this to Icculus, the guy who did the Linux port.

Thank you for your kind answers.

Wine is not an option because of the massive performance hit.

And chrooted environment is possible, but since I don't know which library versions the binary expects, it would take a lot of trial and error. Plus, the complete chrooted environment takes a lot of space, for just one game.
