how do I stop my iPod's auto-sync function?
Hey guys.
I recently bought my first iPod and I'm still learning how to use it.
The thing is, I don't like when the iPod automatically syncs everytime I connect it to my cfomputer, without my permission, so I would like to know how to disable this option.
I want to sync only when it's nessesary or when I want to, but not everytime I want to charge it.
Thanks

In the preference pane for itunes, go to "devices", then check "prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically"

Eww, proprietary hardware coupled with proprietary software.

Disregard that, he's a dick. His pseudo-intellectualism is growing old. He's like a less clever version of tokage or Endoperez.
The auto-sync thing annoys me too. The iPod has always served me pretty well though, I've had my current iPod nano since December 2006.

I don't see the inherent disadvantages to someone's computer use from using iTunes to transfer music to their iPod. In fact, I think that trying to use a different media to transfer music to your iPod would be counter-productive, considering iTunes is the only media which is capable of performing that function.
In other words, that was a really dumb comment, whoever you are.

The main problem I have with iTunes is that its a memory hog, otherwise, its a good piece of software.
